RMS
Replaced today under the factory warranty. No issues. Dropped the car off at the dealer in the morning and collected it at the end of the day. When I bought the car in Ca. back in Nov, I had the opportunity to crawl under the car as it was on the upper level of the transport that delivered it to Austin. I noticed the area around the connection between the engine and transmission was damp with oil. It looked like all of the photos we've seen in the various posts here on Rennlist on the subject. I called the dealer in Ca. to mention what appeared to be a leak as it was a CPO car, and checking for leaks is on the inspection sheet for certification. The service advisor asked if I would wipe the area with a cloth and then drive it for a bit to see if there was just a bit of seepage as the car had been sitting for almost 3 months on their lot. I did, and all was well for several months. Last week I noticed oil building up on one of the clamps for the sway bar, and decided it was time to get it sorted. I asked the service advisor to grab some pics for me, but he was gone when I arrived to pick up the car. If he sends them to me, I'll add them to this post for reference.

I bought my 2008 C2S from SoCal and had it transported to Austin as well. It sat at Power Porsche in Newport Beach, CA for 4 months and also developed an RMS leak which was caught by the Indy's PPI. P-dealer replaced it as condition of purchase. Good that you got it replaced under CPO.
Question,
My '06 has some dampness in the area, but no sign of leakage at all. My indie said it's a matter of time before the seal goes and needs replacimg. Car has 26k miles, could it be that I do not have to do the RMS until such time that it starts to leak and it becoes more obvious?

i would say - wait. to change RMS trannie should come off. so it makes sense to replace clutch at that time if car has more than 40k miles, also makes sense to replace AOS.
at 26K miles it is a bit early. RMS does not get 'knocked out' - leak will be progressively increasing as seal goes, so, keep an eye on it.
if you are on warranty discuss issue with service manager, they may write off most labor and you will only pay for clutch parts and may be extra labor hour.
AOS is worth replacing about of every 20K miles if you have transmission going down for whatever reason, if you can put in a motorsports AOS - it seems to last much longer than stock one.

I'll keep an eye on it and hopefully it won't get progressively worse before I actually need to get the clutch done.
