Battery dead
I stupidly forgot to take the key out of the ignition while parked in my garage and now the battery is dead ! I went through this very same thing the day before Rennsport ! What a royal pain in the *** ! This is the ONLY car in which I have encountered this problem because all of my other ones had a warning chime if the key was in the ignition and door was opened. But NOT Porsche ! You would think with all of their high tech engineering that they would have included this simple feature. I am REALLY pissed ! As I recall the Boxster S I had signed a chime when door was opened and key in ignition. My car is a 2007 Carrera 4S. Has anyone else encountered this or is my car missing the warning chime?

I'll have to check, but I'd think there is a warning chime when the key is in the ignition and the door opened. It certainly bings when the door is open and the turn signal has a side parking light activated. I'll double-check. Mines a 997.2.

Yep, mine chimes with key in the ignition. Point of note - after 3 years of city driving I had to replace my battery this year. The oddests thing - it kicked the bucket after a good 3 hour drive back from Seattle to Vancouver. All good now.
