Default First upgrade tomorrow - Carrera Sport wheels. Nervous :)

...slightly nervous because I hope I like the look. But a little more nervous about how my 295 tires will look in the back. I know 305s are recommended but after doing a bunch of research and viewing some pics of people who had put 295s on the 11.5 rear XRR rims, I felt like it would be fine. I will definitely get 305s when my rear MPSS wear out.

Some of you will also remember that I got screwed when I bought these rims from eBay (seller didnt disclose that the lips had been painted over). Well, I got the stripped + repainted GT Silver + machine polished lip with clearcoat last week and they turned out great.

It's been a bit of a journey to get these wheels on. Pics tomorrow...

with 11.5" wheels, I rather put 305's The 295's will look a tad stretched. I have carrera S wheels and run 305's with no problem. The car looks awesome from behind

I think I recall your thread, you were going to seek reimbursement for the undisclosed damage. Did that work out?

UGH!!!! I'm so annoyed.

So I had the wheels mounted today, and one of the rears, the paint started to chip right around the valve stem when they tightened it. I had Custom Alignment do the install, and they are really the best in the Bay Area and I don't believe it was their fault. It looks like the prep on that particular wheel when it was repainted was sub par. So now I have to go back and have the wheel place unmount and redo the wheel. These wheels have been nothing but bad luck. Very annoyed right now. They look great though.

SToronto - yep, I did get $600 back from the eBay seller towards the refinishing, but at this point I've invested too much time.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Damn! Hope it gets sorted out.

BEST looking wheels for 997 by a margin, specially on a Silver/Gray car!

My car pretty much looks like yours Alex - just with a cab top

Seriously, I want to just get this sorted. Too much effort to get a nice set of wheels. I guess this is what can happen when you try to save $2.5K vs new.

I just dropped off a new (used) turbo wheel I just picked up to a shop to have some curb rash repaired. They told me to either mount the tires prior to fixing the rims or wait at least six weeks for the paint to cure prior to mounting new tires. Otherwise the paint can peel when mounting a new tire. I have plenty of rubber on my old wheels so I'm fine waiting.
