How do I know? I just bought a CPO'd 06 S with 20K miles, with a slightly stronger option set (full, two-tone leather) for well under $55K. The ask was $58K and I was able to get them down significantly.
In my search I found A LOT of 2006/07 Ss in the $60K range. Many were asking $59,900. At one point there was even a 2008 S in that range. You should be able to find a selection from which to choose.
Negotiate! Negotiate! Negotiate!
Good luck,

With your budget you should have better options/lower mileage options. I paid 3/4 of your budget this past May for a 2005 Carrera S with 28,000 miles, ceramic brakes, full leather option, etc. and still 4 years of bumper to bumper warranty (after market). I already put 13k miles on it and I love it. I remember seeing a few very nice ones with less than 20 kmiles in my area (Houston, TX) for the price you are willing to pay. Hope it helps.

andrewinla,
I can run back out there today and look more closely at the car for you if you'd like. I can try to take some pictures and drive it as well.
The sticker is marked $55,998 (I did take a picture of that yesterday). You could probably talk them down some, but I'll try to find out any problems or what they know of the car.

PM me if you're interested. I have a nearly PERFECT 2008 Carrera S I'm interested in selling. $60K minimum otherwise please let's not waste time. 8,300 miles (yes it still smells new), Polar Silver over Sea Foam blue full leather, Bose, Nav, heated electric seats, thicker mutifunction wheel, white gauges, clear bra, etc. No wart.
I'm the second owner (bought from a fellow on Rennlist). The only flaw is minor curb rash on the right rear. Had that when I bought it.
I'm on the East Coast in MD. Shipping is probably around $1,500 to LA- or drive it home. I did. Also there are pictures in the for sale section.

CPO car always helps. I found my 09 C4S at a local dealer with CPO and was able to get it for $73k last August. Was a launch car and had a few more miles than I wanted but all the equipment and since I don't drive it daily (only about 5-6k year) that was acceptable. I'd go with a 997.2 car cause the engine is just better as it the PCM 3.0 if you can swing it vs the PCM 2.0 and older 997.1 engines. As for base vs S just depends...I had an '05 997.1 base manual and never had a problem but if I was tracking the care regularly or having the best optioned and bigger HP car was an issue then go for the S. You can't go wrong IMHO with either. Good luck.

Great info. And I really appreciate the guys who are selling their own cars.
I'm not looking for black, silver, or any variations of those two colors(midnight blue/meteor grey). So if anyone has a red/white/aqua blue/S Yellow car (S model with manual and no cab/4S) speak up.
May take the red one from Carmax but hate betting almost $1k on te car and I do PPI in LA and find out its not worth buying.

.2 Carrera is much better and closer to .2 S models, while .1, to get the best you really had to step-up to "S" models.
