Default Falken Tires

Watching F1 today and Falken tires is advertising using there ALMS car.

Have any of you tried their performance tire for your 997? I have them on my Acura and like them.

The ad was for Falken Azenis...but I am talking about any Falken tire. I am just curious if anyone has them on their 997 and how they compare to Pilots or P-Zero's or the like.

I bought a 2005 BMW for my daughter and it had a set of those falken tires on it........I drove those falken tires around for a couple of weeks and decided I falken hated those falken tires. So even though they had plenty of falken tread left I had those falken tires replaced with a set of falken Goodyears.

I don't wanna falken talk about this anymore !

I have a set of FK's on my MY07 Super Bee. They wear like crazy and are very quite.

That's about all I can say about them.

NO comparison to the MPSS on my RS. Doubt I would run them on any of my P cars.....

I see guys trying to save a few hundred bucks and I understand because the 911 eats tires for lunch (15-20k miles) but for me it just isn't worth it. The connection to the road is very important so having the best, especially on my 911, I will not compromise. Falken, Kumho, Sumitomo, make decent tires but not the best. Michelin all the way...hands down the best tire made in my opinion. I just bought the Michelin Super Sports instead of the PS2 this time and find them to be fantastic.

I seem to have read that the Falken ALMS car was a test project. That is, they race to promote and develop their tires. I have no idea how successful they have been but they have won a couple of ALMS races (in their class) that I can remember.

When you say "they wear like crazy" you mean that they are a higher mileage tire?
or they wear out like crazy?
What kind of mileage are you getting out of them?

The Azenis were a great tire in the past. I used a few sets of them and loved them. Grip was fantastic for a street tire. The downside was longevity.

Former lurker, first post. Hope it helps.

I had Falkens on my S2000 and they seemed to be great tires. They were FK's, or whatever they called the FK four years ago. Unfortunately, over time, I found that the rears gave me absolutely no warning when they were going to break free. They had great grip but I just couldn't handle the snap oversteer once they finally reached their limit. I went to Michelin PS2's on the rear and am much happier.

Surprisingly, the front Falkens worked great and wouldn't give up grip no matter what I did. Go figure.

Also on the plus side, both fronts and rears lasted a very long time. Once I decided to get the Michelins, I tried to wear those Falkens out and finally gave up trying.

At any rate, a rear tire that doesn't give you any warning before it breaks free is probably not a tire you want on a 911.
