Not sure if it was mentioned but I understand the saran rap. The chemical dirt/sand mixture they put on the roads in the mountains for grip during the winter is brutal on any car. Even with the clear bra it would be unpleasant driving in this sloppy mess.

RE the wrap - Sure it's a personal choice, but that's just genius IMHO.
Nice job.
Great solution to what would have created bunch of dings and nicks within the first couple of days owning the car.
With all the crud on those roads at this time of year, you might as well be driving on slag heaps. I'd have done the same thing in a second.
