I hear that too but mostly at a very low speed. I took it to Porsche they said it was fine...I am still concerned.

most probably we are hearing a noise like a tea kettle whistling at idle and when the car is warm...

if this the case then its probably the water pump which i changed mine under warranty...

Go to the dealer and tell them that you did some research online and this is what other people found out... That's what i did and i was able to replicate it at the shop so it was easy for them to locate it...

22K miles... I had the noise since 20.5K approximately, but it started becoming more and more distinct and since i took the car in for service they had it fixed.

I posted a strange noise on my 997.2 last month and dealer has no idea what it is. Please search "Mystery DFI Engine Noise" thread. Here is the you tube video, see if the noise you are hearing is similar (need good speakers and turn up volume to here the noise). Let me know if it is similar.

Kouzman,

I just picked up a 2010 997.2 Coupe.

And changed the air filters on it, then noticed the whistling noise exactly as you described before finding and reading your post, and thought it was one of the filters that was not properly seated, so I reseated them, still have the whistle...Only when warmed up and at idle. Will check the water pump.

Years ago, I was driving to Walmart with my daughter. We kept hearing a howling sound like something was in deep distress. Thought maybe something was wrong with the engine. My daughter looks all around and said, "There is nothing in the car". As we drove, we kept hearing the weird howling sound like something off a Vampire/Wolfman movie. Arrived at Walmart, and as we were walking away from the SUV, we heard it again. My daughter runs back to the car and looks underneath and yells, "It's our cat daddy!!!" The darn thing was sitting on the spare tire the whole way!

How’s your oil consumption? Could be an AOS starting to go.

AOS? Can you easily remove the oil fill cap with the engine running? If the AOS is failing then it will create a vacuum and result in suction on the oil fill cap. It will also create a whistling sound in some cases.
