So I mentioned a few times last week that I had ordered a set of Carrera Sports from a seller on eBay.
Well I received the set last night and to my big disappointment, they were not as described. The polished lip one one of the rims has been completely painted in silver, on two of the rims partially painted to cover up what looks like curb rash repair, and one of the rims is 100% polished as should be.
Should I fight to reverse the transaction or do you think getting the lips polished at a reputable wheel shop could yield good results.
Was so looking forward to getting them installed today....

polished lips are HARD to fix rash and then have the original brushed finish restored. Most wheel shops wouldn't touch that job. You might end up having to paint the lips of all the rims to get a good matching, consistent finish. That is, if you get stuck with them.
Being in Hawaii I am well practiced getting stuck with things too expensive to ship back when its not as described.

I had a polished lip refinished that had the brushed look to it. It is possible to have it done, but you have to take extra care with the maintenance to keep it from going 'cloudy'. Cost was $100.

I'd return the wheels. I purchased a set once that were not as described, not even close. The seller didn't want to do anything. Turned it over to Amex and got a refund. It was fairly painless.

I agree with Alan. Given the way the wheels were misrepresented there may be other things wrong with them; if they've been slightly tweaked you'd have to have them spin balanced to tell. Too much hassle to make them right, if at all possible send them back.

Update: a place called wheel techniques in santa clara does machine polish and will charge 150 per rim. If the seller gives me $600 toward the repair should I do it? Upside is that I've had a tough time finding these and I would practically have a new set. Downside is all the extra BS I shouldn't have to deal with

my advice would be - get those $600 back and drive those wheels as they are after some elbow grease of your own applied.
