$2 DRL lights solution for fog lights
Hi,
I finally got to a local shop to buy wire taps.
so here is how you get it done - you get out your light switch and you tap together 'A2 - automaic light yellow/red' wire with 'A5 fog light yellow/white' wire.
now when you put light selector into 'home' position your front fogs will light up when engine is working. 'home' function also works as usual when you shut down engine and fogs turn off in 30sec after you exit the car.
works fine.

I'd point out that wiring the fog lights to be on all the time is a generally bad idea and illegal in Germany at least, and likely not correct for most EU countries. Not sure about the US.

Have had car three years, never once used "Home". When I run up my garage door the overhead light goes on for ten minutes. Never used the fog lamps either. Can't recall the last time we had fog down here. Clearly, you're fishing for kudos on your juryrigging, so in that spirit, congrats on a job well done

I have hoen xenon like bulbs. They are bit brighter than stock and work perfectly in the tunnels.
As of previous 'all the time' comments - with this hack fogs will be on when you turn light switch to position marked 'home'.

It's great if you want DRLs and don't want to run the Xenon main headlamps. The DRL feature on the PCM turns on the main beams which I don't want. The fogs running as DRL are adequate. Has nothing to do with trying to mimicking 997.2 for me. At least it's a solution for people who what this. Issue is I don't think I want to hack the electronics on my car. But it's a neat solution for those who want to try it.

@OP, can we wire this in such a way that after you turn the car on, the fogs light-up automatically (without turn of light switch)?
Thanks

it is exactly how it works. if you leave switch in 'home' position when you start car back on fogs will light up. when you turn it off - they also go off. you just supply signal to A5 pin on front ECU.
if you do not want any lights - just leave switch in the 'off' position.

For those (and there are many) in the USA looking to add LED DRL to thier 997.1, this would be a quick easy (inexpensive) alternative to Dectane DRL module for $45-$50!
