I'm a bit confused. When I look at the fuse chart for my 2005 Boxster, A2 and A5 fuses have to do with central locking. Perhaps a newer post talking about the front of the ECU is where the answer is. Where is the ECU located?
FYI. I had the car at the dealers for service yesterday and he would charge me $55 to turn on the high beams at 50%. Decided I liked the idea of this thread better.

it is not about A2 & A5 fuses, those are names of pins on a light switch connector. review photos.

I have a 2005 Boxster and my fuse diagram shows A2 and A5 to be central locking for the doors. Maybe knowing what the front ECU is would help. I have fuse taps waiting to hook up DRL's like I did on my 2002.

Please ignore my last post. Didn't that my reply had made it.
How do you remove the light switch connector?

Anyway, after all this discussion, I'm glad that you found an effective workaround!

Default DRLs -- Tapping into Home function

I like this idea a lot. Before I try it on my Cayman (a US-spec car imported into Canada), has anyone had any problems? I'd hate to toast my electricals.

Have now seen post 23 and following. May switch wires and insert diode instead of tapping. Thanks all for a good thread.

Installed LED DRLs and inserted a diode into the switch. No soldering, no splicing, simple stuck the diode in (and can take it out any time without damage).

Now I have LED DELs for my 997.1, looks cool and is effective (safety).

I carried out this mod today, it was a simple mod and worked a treat. I went for the diode option between A2 and A5 terminals rather than cutting/slicing cables.

I'm a little disappointed however that the DRL LEDs go off when the headlights are turned on. so i'll search around for a mod that keeps the LEDs on with the headlights.

Yeah, but if you just pull the switch out one stop to turn on the front fogs they do come on. I actually prefer just the strip lights and head lights on so don't bother. I haven't tried, but another diode between the headlight terminal and fog light terminal should do the trick.

thanks - I did think that might work, so i'll give it a try. once the darker nights arrive i'll see if the strip light gives the effect im after. I'm just a bit concerned about colour matches with the main xenons.

I changed my HID bulbs to try and match them to the LED lights, 5000K was still a little warm (yellow), 6000K (which I have in currently) is a touch cool (blue). I would think 5500K would be about right.
