Valentine One "Savvy" 997.2 EASY install
So I just installed my brand new Valentine 1 with the "Savvy" OBD port power plug option. The installation took about 1 minute...seriously it's going to take more time to type this than to install the unit! NO wires show AT ALL.
I thought about posting some pictures - but then thought - that's silly to post pictures of nothing!!!
You simply suction the unit to the glass above the mirror, then use your key to: push the wire into the gap between the headliner and the windshield
then push it into the gap between the A pillar and the windshield
then push it into the gap along the edge of the dash till you hit the rubber of the door frame
then push it under the black rubber of the door frame till you hit the gap by your footwell.
then stuff the excess cord into the "pocket area" in the left side of your foot well.
then plug in the unit to the OBD port.
I have to say after reading about crimping wires, or tapping into fuse boxes I was very perplexed on how to hard wire install a radar detector.
Once I saw the savvy unit I thought, huh this might make it easier..I'll just order their kit for $449 and if the Savvy thing does not work out I'll just return it - no harm no foul.
I liked the idea of the Bell/Escort's GPS functionality, and thus less "false warnings" but since I mostly need it for highway not city, and I like the idea of having the most sensitive unit you can buy, I was leaning towards the V-1...Boy am I glad I did....the Savvy made it a piece of cake to install.
I set the SAVVY at 35, so you can barely hear the warning at speeds less than 35mph....works great. I'm very satisfied!!!

Thanks for your post. I was contemplating a similar install (add a fuse, hardwire, etc) and then heard about Savvy. You have confirmed my initial thoughts - easy hardwire install. Did you install the concealed display as well? Lastly, from you avatar it looks like you have a Cab, as do I - so I am assuming you were able to hide the wire along the windscreen edge without any issues. I'd also be interested in how you like the V1 & Savvy after a couple more weeks of use.

No Concealed display- the unit is pretty easy to see and looking down in that little cubby space (or reaching in there) would be more inconvenient for me than looking up - I don't see any advantage...
The install could not have been easier- the hardest area to stuff the wire was along the dash and A pillar... but the flat edge of the key worked just fine to stuff the cord all the way in..

Instead of using a key to push the wire into the gap between the headliner and the windshield, use a credit card or plastic Id card. Plastic wont scratch or damage anything like a screwdriver or metal key can.

Thanks for the post.
That seals the deal for me. I'm ordering a V1 today! I'd been bouncing back and forth between Escort and V1. Can't really go wrong with either. Deep down I was leaning to V1 and you're post pushed me over the edge.
I like the idea of the savvy. I'll be anxiously awaiting mine now!

Love my V1 too. Will have to check out the Savvy. I wired mine same except down passenger side, under the glove box, and I just use the auxiliary plug on the passenger side foot well. Works great. Well... Almost - until my girlfriend kicks the plug.

I always suggest that you put a few half hitches in the line--it will keep the wire in that groove better.

Any pics of this install? I'm particularly interesting in where the A-pillar ends and meets the dash board. Is there a way to completely conceal the wire? Also with this Saavy unit, how do you keep the wire from dangling once it's connected to the ODB port? And lastly, does the ODB port power on and off with the engine?
