Default Heated steering wheel and paddle shift on a 997.2? Don't think so.

Anyone know if you can add paddle shifters to a 2010 997.2 PDK C4S Cab that has heated steering without losing the heated steering. Talked to Suncoast a few minutes ago and got the "no" answer. Just wanted to confirm if possible.

Thanks!

I'd heard Suncoast mention that .. apparently there were some issues with installing headed/multifuction wheels with paddle shift cars. As mine was a 6spd manual, it didn't apply to me and I went ahead successfully. Must be they use the same wiring through the slip-ring or some such oddity.. though if you replace the thumb switches with paddle switches I don't see how thats an issue. I'm just wildly guessing....

I had the same question and conversation with Sunset Imports in Oregon. Answer was no - heat is not available on the paddle-shift wheel.

I miss my heated wheel but totally prefer the paddles over the buttons.

Aint that strange, posted the same detail to my local P dealer earlier this week. Cost to change $ 1400

If you change the steering wheel to paddle shift, you will loose the heating element function.

Wow - $1400! I bought the wheel from Sunset Imports for about $850 and DIY'd it in about 20 minutes. It's really easy.

Yeah - forgot about the Great White North Exchange Rate (GWNER - pronounced "gweiner").

No, new wheel does not come with the airbag, you reuse the existing. Very cool trick, you insert a punch or similar tool into a hole in the bottom of the center of the wheel and the airbag pops loose.

Thanks PJ, how do you like the new wheel ? It probably simplifies the proccess of gear change, but hopefully I can get used to my "button" shifter.

Porsche 991s is a complete new experience for me, using the stock wheel I have gone down a gear once or twice when I should of gone up, didn't over rev, but its a split second reaction to correct the shift, and I feel I'm a pretty good driver !

Aren't the Canadian and US dollar trading at about the same rate? When I commuted back and forth to Toronto on a weekly basis in the 1998 - 2003 time frame it was a much larger spread. Sometimes as high as 1 USD bringing 1.45 CDN. Good for me visiting Canada and terrible for the Canadians visiting the states.

Love the new wheel, much better than the buttons IMHO.

Champion Motorsports developed a paddle shifter retro fit for PDK cars. You could contact them to see if their solution will allow you to keep the heated function. IIRC, their "upgrade" is about $1,000 +/-.

I contacted Tom at Champion. He said their paddle adapter kit would work with multifunction and heated pdk button wheels. Champion tries to turn the wheels around in a day. If the wheel comes in early morning it is possible they might get it back out the same day. Cost, $1500 plus shipping. Personally I like the look of the Champion paddles better than the factory ones. Not to mention it is the only multifunction/heated solution in town.

I'll be talking to the Techs at POV on Wednesday about getting this done next month.
