Played with my new Durametric reader tonight
Bought my 06S in December and the the PPI found a bad seat belt retractor causing the air bag light to come on. Because of timing and location the PO agreed to send me the parts and I installed them.
Trouble is the air bag light needed resetting so I bought the Durametric reader for ~$300 and couldn't be happier. Pretty cool poking around in the brains of the beast.
Here's the readout from the DME
Bosch Digital Motor Electronics Motronic 7.8.1
Information
Number of ignitions range 1* 1643 / 704h
Number of ignitions range 2 197 / 696.9h
Number of ignitions range 3** * *0 / 0h
Number of ignitions range 4. 0 / 0h
Number of ignitions range 5* 0 / 0h
Number of ignitions range 6. 0 / 0h
Operating hours counter**714.8
From other posts I gather this is a pretty good report considering the guy doing the PPI didn't perform this test for me? Car has just under 24000 miles on it.
I should formally introduce myself on this forum sometime soon....

I bought one back in 2006 when I was looking for a 996 GT3. I would actually bring it out in showrooms with my laptop to download the DME info... that was quite disconcerting for the sales guys!
I use it on all three 911s to check & clear error codes, and monitor ignitions... Great product, and worth the investment.

I should have clarified... It was mostly used car dealers. Porsche dealers wouldn't let me near the car, and some even tried to charge for DME readouts... I ended up finding my GT3 off eBay, flying to a small used dealer in Mississipi and negotiating a great price. From memory, I must have used my reader 6 or 7 times that summer between individuals sellers and dealers...

Just got my DurametricPro last week. Very nice - can do coding now with the 6.0 Beta SW.
Fun watching the real time values as well.
Plan to do DME readouts after each lapping session this summer to see how ham fisted I am on the rev limiter. Also handy for clearing codes after mods ... (eg. Airbags PASM etc. )

Do you have the Pro version - if so do you know if it will change the side markers to flash with the turn signals? PIWIS can do it but my dealer won't - says it violates DOT rules.
