You know what ... You are dead right. I confirmed that with the girls. They infact can tell the difference between a pre-impact bumper and a IB 911, 997.1 vs 997.2.

Is a 991 in the cards for you in a few years ?

I presume the 955 is Cayenne gen 1 and 958 is Cayenne gen 2... I may actually prefer the 2008 gen 1 facelift to gen 2. ...
I actually like the rear end of the gen 1 Cayennes but the front end, interior styling and the ride were deal breakers for me to choose the 958.

I didnt have that feeling that mine needed to be replaced. And when I parked it at home and turned around to look at her, felt that the 997 doesn't look like or feel dated. It looks smaller and maybe dare I say it, at least as nice. Smaller and less bulky. Typically when another marque comes out with a new one, the old one looks really old and yesterday's news. Look at any BMW, Mercedes, Maserati etc. I don't think the 997 looks that way at all. I felt happy as this may save me some $ in the short term.

I do actually really like the interior. That is where the 997 doesn't quite match up and may look older. However, I'm still happy enough with it and it has all the mod cons.
"I really felt a new bond with mine" That just about sums up my thoughts. I really felt more attached to my 997 than EVER.

I do like the Panamera interior, big improvement over the 996/997 generation.

You say improvement, I tend to echo Adias when he says more complex and jewel like. Yes I am biased but I would want that in a Cayenne and not on a 911. One of the appeals to me on the 997 and earlier 911s were the driver focused interior. WOuld not call it pedestrian by any means, just less distracting. That has now all changed but that is what the customers want. The car looks more bulky and the 997 looks "more right" to me.

The 997 already has a less than spartan interior. The GT-iing of the 911 started with the 996 and now is taking off fast. That is why I see the 991 as an inflection point in the 911 evolution.

We now have a sound 'symposer'... which some already report is artificial. Of course it is, by definition, as it is a shaped sound waveguide which must emphasize some frequencies and deemphasize others, altering the real thing. Some (who actually never owned a PDK) say the new PDK is fantastic, reporting 'ultra-smooth' shifts. Funny that these 'sports cars drivers' seem to be pining for gliding smooth limo shifting.

Back end looks too much like a Panamera to suit me. Proportions look all wrong. Stretched out.

Tomorrow one of the local dealers has an unveiling for PCA. Those opinions may change when I see it in the flesh, or metal and plastic.

Very well said. I'll see a 991 for the first time tomorrow night in Raleigh. I'm looking forward to it.

The photos at the beginning of this thread make the car appear more "Panamera" in appearance than I've noticed before. Perhaps it's just the photos, perhaps it's because the car is sitting net to a 993. Regardless, it is a gorgeous car, but I don't see myself trading any time soon.

That's the first 991 I've seen in black. I like it.

The top photos state: 997 Gen 5 and 991 Gen 6.
In my count: 997 is Gen 6 and 991 is Gen 7.

I actually like how the 991 looks in back, but WTF is with all the text????

P O R S C H E
911 Carrera S

IMO a little much. I guess we should be happy they didn't surround it with sequential flashing LEDs.
