Default Wheel/rim size

I have a 05 c2s cab My rear tires are 305 19. How do I know if the 305's are standard on this car. Need to replace tires but don't know weather to go with 295's or 305's.

I used to think that all C2S's came with 295's back then, but I once asked the dealer and they did say that some cars came with 305's. Not sure why they flip flopped back and forth but in both cases they kept the 235's up front.

Do you have OEM wheels? Which ones are they and what width? That may give you a clue at to what size tires were originally mounted. On the 997.2 Carreras like mine, 305's came with the wider 11.5" Carrera Sport Wheels and 295's with all the rest of the OEM wheels. Might have been different with the 997.1. If you don't know the wheel width, you should be able to find the stamping on a factory wheel that shows width and offset.

295 tires are the right size for your rims, but some people like the look of the wider 305's and put them on instead.

Did some research. Both the 295 and 305 tires both has the same rim size. 10.5-11.5. So Looks like I can use either one. As I mentioned I have 305 on the rear now. Comparing the two in price, there is an extra $150 a pair for the 305, from what I can find

Is it worth it for the bigger size?

Well at least that answers your original question, which was how you could know what size came standard on your car. It came with 295's and someone put on 305's later. Your 11" rims will work with a 305, and the 305's will look slightly beefier, but you'll never be able to tell the difference behind the wheel on the street. So at this point, whether it's worth it or not is strictly up to you and your checkbook.

We have two C2S's in the family. According to the sticker on the left door jamb. The 06 came with 295's while the 07 came with 305's. Both cars have 11" rims.

Interesting. I guess Porsche must gone with both sizes on the 997.1 with 11's as, for my ''09 at least, only the 11.5" Carrera Sports came with 305's. In any event, we knew the OP's 11's could work with either tire so it's still just a matter of choice. Maybe he should check his door jamb to see what came stock on his car.

Look inside your door jam. It will show you what tires came on your car.

When Porsche introduced the Carrera Sport wheel in MY06 they increased the size of the wheels by a half inch both in front and in the rear. That dictated a growth in tire size from 295 to 305.

There is hardly any difference between the two tire sizes.
