How does I phone.....
If you have songs in an I phone (3GS wifes) can they play through the "plug" in the center console...clarification....( not computer savy ) there is a mini plug in the center console of our 997 (06 S Cab) that was there when we bought it, I have NO idea how these things work...what could happen if I PLUG IT IN AND TRY IT?
(PLEASE..no wise cracks to the old guy, electronics are not my forte', I retired 21 years ago...remember...before Al Gore invented the internet)

If the male connection looks to be the right size then all you can do is to try and see if it fits without forcing the issue.
I know you previously posted a thread about this "hook up" that you have in your car, but without any photos its hard to tell what it can be ?

Do the physical connection first using a mini plug male-to-male patch cord. After that you must switch your PCM unit input to that port and select the iPod app in your iPhone and play a song or playlist. Easy!

If the car has the audio option installed, the center console has 3 sockets: on the left (drivers side) is a USB slot, then an AUX (3.5mm) headphone type jack, then the multi-pin round DIN socket.
A special short cable is used to plug the iDevice into that round DIN socket. Its got a iDock connector on the end, and if you don't have the cable, get the new kind that also has a separate USB cable that plugs into the USB port to provide 5v charging power to the iDock. The older cable is a single straight cable that only connects to the DIN plug and provides the 12v charging to the iDock, but Apple dropped support for that charging pin form its iDock. That was either a giant idiotically stupid decision or a long term strategy to reuse that pin for something different down the road.
