Thanks! I'll see what I can get one for.....

Edit:

997at, the cover immediately below is advertised as an "Outdoor Car Cover" but the description does not mention a lining.

This next cover is the "Carrera 997 Silverguard Plus" and the description mentions a lining of some kind (flannel?) and the plastic license plate window. They're not calling it an outdoor cover; maybe the names have changed. Anyway, is this one like yours?

My C4S is the daily driver and for the last couple of seasons I've gone all out to protect it. My office has no carport and summers could get pretty brutal. I started of with 35% tint (though I am not a big fan of tints on sports cars) and now the plastic and rubber trim is starting to take a slight beating. I would love to buy one of the two ...guess will wait to see what Mike decides to get. How hot does the car get even in peak of summer if it is wrapped in a outdoor cover ? Adias has been persuadng me to get an outdoor cover for quite sometime as I had told him about my lack of shelter all day at work. Now, I recently had a stealth installation done on the passport escort system and heard reports that it could malfunction if exposed to very hot conditions so to protect the plastic and the radar system, I might have to go with the outdoor cover. My entire car is covered in PPF (ya totally crazy me ... did it in the first week of Porsce ownership would not have done it but for the awe factor associated with such an expensive purchase for the first time in my life plus all the travel over the pass in the winter) so I am not worried about microswirls/scratches due to the rubbing of the cover with the paint.

Amar, when I was still commuting and parking my cars at work I always covered them. A car left in the sun on a hot day can leave seats, dashboard, and other interior bits almost too hot to touch, but that was never an issue with the cover, so I know it was staying cooler inside. Most covers relect a certain amount of infrared and UV and for sure they absorb much of the punishment that the sun would otherwise inflict on your car, not to mention the bird droppings and other environmental contaminants. As clean as you keep your vehicles I wouldn't worry about potential marks from a cover; that's definitely the lesser of two evils.

Griots car cover. Water and dust proof. Very light. Works perfectly for in the arame in winter or outside.

I'm not a fan of waterproof covers. If water can't get in it means it can't get out either, IOW the cover doesn't breathe (unless it's made of GoreTex or something similar). Moisture trapped under a cover, especially one that's outside and exposed to cycles of cold and heat, can be very bad for paint.

Wow Mike, you always covered your car. I always worry about the unwanted attention. Any problems from your co-workers when u covered it. But who cares. It's our prized possession so why should I care how others perceive it.
With the windshield shade and the tint, so far the interior has not had any exposure. It's the outside plastic, rubber trim that I want to protect and now not sure how many parts of the stealth installation that needs heat shield. Griots have so many on there website. Which one did you get.

I used to take some ribbing about covering my car (so what? ), but as far as drawing attention it was probably no more than a 911 in open view would get. I always used 100% cotton covers in the past (been using covers for 40 years) because they breathed and were washable but then they kind of went out of fashion and got replaced with newer materials. The Porsche cover with the refelective outside and flannel lining discussed above was a recent favorite for my 996. Lately, I've used one of the quilted poly blend covers; although I didn't buy it from Griots, it's the same "Noah" cover shown on their web site. Now I'm looking for something with a softer lining since my car is almost always garaged and a soggy flannel lining from being caught in a rainstorrm is not an issue.

Mike, the second one looks just like my cover. It is the Porsche OEM cover. I'd call the color more silver than grey, although it is sorta a mixture between the two. I used to have a Noah fabric cover for my old M5, which I loved when dry, but it was cr#p in the rain..............the Porsche cover is great in all weather.
