Q about Santa B, good freind's wife is from there, I've never been and always wanted to go but my buddy said it was pretty dull and full of blue hairs

comments anyone?

Aye, not our favorite assignment if I'm honest.

Indeed, and when they brought me out for an interview, the damned weather cooperated completely. With them, not with anyone hoping I might stay on active duty in places like Dayton. I had left Dayton in January, a particularly cold and slushy one. I observed Pasadena, reported back to Cindy, and it was time to come home to Southern California, where we began.

Well, it was not the last time we were there, though admittedly that's been at least twenty years now I think about it. In fact, we had trouble finding gathering places for people of our mature persuasion, i.e. over 25 years of age. The city is home to one of the main campuses of the University of California, and about thirty years ago the courts insisted that anyone present long enough to pick up drop slips for classes was thereby entitled to vote on local civic issues. As a result, the students, who outnumber the permanent residents, had created a rather youthful -- not to say immature -- feel to the whole city.

Maybe that generation of students never managed to graduate (a plausible scenario given their apparent decision-making skills). Maybe they hung around and are now blue-hairs.

But I doubt it. Bet it's still a college town run by college kids, and still pretty youthful in its policies and appearance.

There are two extremes in SB. There are the students and then there are the old Trust Fund Babies who are still waiting for dad or mom to die (and these TFBs are in their early 60s!)
