Everytime I see the front end of the new 991 with the snaggletooth DRLs, I cringe.

That area of the bumper just does not look right to me.

But, where did this body cut-line come from? Sore thumb.
My guess; with the now deeply sculpted flanks and scoops the rear quarter panel could no longer be formed as a single piece, hence the cut line.

+1. The implementation of DRL on Boxster is A LOT CLEANER and better looking!

That does look odd but I bet it will change the game for design. Sort of like the shark fin on bimmers did several years ago. Half of the sedans out there have some type of variation of it now it seems.

Maybe it's better looking in person, but from the pics, it just doesn't do anything for me.
I agree. Reminds me of a 3rd gen Toyota MR2.

As for the comparison to a Carrera GT, ! I've seen, and ridden in a friend's GT, and this. . . ain't even close.

Not as bad... only the headlights are MR2. Bad headlights, but so are the 991 bulbous headlights.

Alex is right. Whether the performance is in the same ballpark is not the point; the styling cues as seen in those pictures are unmistakeable.

It is a very nice looking car from all angles. Looking at the windshield, fender line and headlights; I see a little California resemblance. The exterior feature I am not crazy about is the backup light spoiler edges, but the rest is clean. Bottom line, styling is better than the new 991...especially the back end. The back end looks at least a thousand times better than the discombobulated mess on the back of the 991. With model designation delete (to reduce the busy look with all the characters), the "PORSCHE" script looks right versus looking very strange on the back of the 991. I also give thumbs up to the interior. The new dash also looks better/more upscale than the new dash in the 991. They are even keeping the prices reasonable. The base Boxster only goes up $1400.

Ferrari front end (good).
MR2 (hockey stick) or reversed Corvette doors (bad).
Panamera rear (bad).
Awful interior, worst yet.
Cayenne wheels on a roadster....bling bling.

still...more exciting than the 991 which looks more like Jaguar than anything Carrera like.
Eventually there will be no rear fenders...
