NEW Boxster revealed

I first saw the 981 in the current issue of Road & Track. With 19" wheels it will look bad ***, and if they offer the rumored 2.5 liter, 360 BHP turbo charged engine, it will have performance to boot. It would be interesting to see how this car will perform on the track with the appropriate tires.

I like the look of the front, but hate the rear. Way too busy, and the line through the tail lights is gross.
But looks are not the important part.
315 bhp is sort of a slap in the face. Barely bumping up from 310, carefully staying below the base Carrera. Come one Porsche, stop treating us like morons and make the car we know you could easily make.
Also 19" wheels minimum is daft. So many decisions like that are more about the "bling" crowd than real driving dynamics.

Porsche could easily equip the Boxster/Cayman twins with more power and more capabilites. But, they are very careful to not dig into the 911 sales which are such a cash cow for them. They want to keep the 911 at the top of the heap...and the Boxster's performance will never be allowed to surpass the 911.

As the 911 gets longer and the turning radius get even larger they need to put more power in the boxster. I would pay up for more power and buy one in a heartbeat over an already to big 911 called 991.

I used to think exactly like this.
Then I drove one on a whim for a test drive.
Then I went back and spent an hour in one.
Drove a few more...
I took one over night to see if I liked it and it followed me home into my garage.
They are wonderful cars. Lighter and more communicative than a 911 (dare I say). It's a great setup.

And the Ferrari or Lambo owner says it's just a 911... A Boxster (base) will outrun 99% of cars on the road.
By far the best looking Boxster yet! I too see the Mini CGT in the lines, I just want to see some better colors than the silver and whatever that other color is shown thus far.
Porsche has some great looking cars right now! I'd pick up several if I could afford it.

I like the new look. It looks better than the outgoing version.
Maybe they'll do the turbo version for a new Spyder.
