Geez Chris,
With maintenance costs like you mentioned, I figured you were tracking it every weekend!
Yup, the Carrera S will treat your wallet much better... just make sure it has a clean bill of health.

Interesting to reflect on the GT-R and the whole New Car Magazine BS;
A few years ago the drumbeat began and we were seeing articles about the "World Beater" GT-R and fretting over 'Ring times, reading about the tires, the brakes, ringer cars and fudged times. Rags did articles about how "old' the Porsches were and fanbois trolled just about every chat line about how the new Datsun was gong to clean everyone's clock
Well the pie came out of the oven and the rest is history. You might think they cause cancer. NO ONE will buy a used one either...
Keep this in mind next time, wait it IS nest time...

Hi there,
I want to know your opinion on this trade: 2009 Nissan GTR, Premium 34,000 miles for a 2006 Red Carrera S with 15,800 miles and a set of HRE mono bloc wheels. Nissan has been a maintenance pig and despite the power I'm not impressed. Costs are astronomical for what it is. 1000 oil change, 2000 18K service, 4000 in tires within the year, brakes will be $4000 if I do them myself, $8000 at the dealer. Then there is Performance Optimization Services...it just never ends. So as I understand it the 911 is reliable and reasonable for service. It does not have a warrantee which is a concern... what do you think? Thanks for your time.
Kind Regards,
Christopher

this way you will be covered almost 100% for your DD needs. at this moment i do not think there is any sense to invest into 997.1 car, you do not want to mess with older platform if 997.2 cars are now priced in mid-$60K.

Wouldn't necessarily buy a 911 just to minimize maintenance costs but they do seem to be quite reasonable. I've had my 06 C2S for about a year and a half and 10,000 miles and the only maintenance has been oil changes, filters and wiper blades which I have done myself. My total maintenance costs have probably barely been $200.

My take..trade the GTR in maybe for a new 991 spot. You'll probably get more $$ for the 991 than getting a CPO 997.1 as you initially seek. Alternative and an attractive one at that is to find a nice '11 or '12 997.2 GTS that you like and get that. You'll get the best of the last 997.2 and probably NONE of the maintenance and service nightmares you mention. I recently thought about trading my 997.2 in for a GTR but although all review have raved about the track times most have said service, maintenance and general look/feel/build quality have been lacking and I would be where you now find yourself a few months out was my walk away impression. Now IF I could have both cars..awesome but if I had to choose it would be the 911 all the way. GL Rob

You might want to move away from Cape Cod as my local dealership charges $120 for an oil change. There's nothing different with a GT-R regarding oil changes. Additionally, here are some other charges for the GT-R
Transmission Service: $547, Brake Flush: $138, Rear Diff: $278, Front Diff: $278, Cabin Filter: $135, Oil Change: $119 = Total: $1495
In short - you're getting hosed ... or just wrong.
