Not sure who had the caps lopro, but the giving without receiving goes a long, long, way in my books.

A very kind gesture indeed.

After a little shipping error, my ebay caps arrived. Below are some pictures. The black ones are OEM. For the backside picture, the dirty ones are the OEM. Something about the OEM caps feel better, but I have no idea what. It might just be in my head.

regards,
pv

The Flea-bay ones have 6 clips, but they look thinner and flimsier than the 5 clip OEMs. The OEMs look stronger, even though they're both plastic. I've only bought OEMs in the past. Your comparo is good to see.

i agree with x51, from the look of it the oem ones look like thicker meterials but to be honest the logo on the aftermarket ones look better. 6 clips may be better but the thinner meterial wouldnt be as strong.

only way to tell is to test them out. How hard are they to remove from the wheel???

seem like they will do the job just fine.
good score & great documentation for others to see before buying.

These caps just pop right out. If you have the wheel off, use the butt end of a hammer and gently push them out. You can also use a flathead screwdriver and flex the retaining clips to remove them.

If the wheels are on, you can put in the hook end of a wire hanger into one hole and out of the other and give a quick pull.

Ebay has lots of used center caps too if someone is looking for OEM. I've been just swapping mine between the winter and summer wheels since the transfer only takes a few seconds for each wheel.

Oh my mestake, I know how to remove them I just ment how easy they come out, Im wondering if the differences in thickness of the retaining clips would allow them to come out easer and maybe not hold them in as well. My mestake in being so vague.

Im sure they will be fine, For the price, I would just opt for the oem ones personally. Maybe thats just me

Someone told me that the reason that the colored caps are $185 (or were) was that Porsche was educating new buyers about the cost of Porsche accessories and service.

I think the silver is the same. The OEM ones are kind of dirty. I'd say they're equally as difficult to pull out using a wire coat hanger. The paint is the difference in my opinion. You can see the thickness of the paint in the OEM caps. The color ones look like a nice sticker.

Haha. I have no explanation about why I'd spend 65k for a used car but wont spend $185 on a set of quality wheel caps. Its just one of those things where I care but dont care at the same time. If the OEM color caps were $100 or bundled with something else I would have totally gotten them.
I'm sure by the time these knock-offs fade I'll be over the aesthetics of my wheels.

These are pricey, but the best out there IMO: http://www.boothedesign.com/centercaps.html (last cap on the page). Billet aluminum, with genuine metal OEM crest. (I think Bumper Plugs also carries them, and they might still have some all silver crests.)
