be sure to ask them if the IMS bearing has been changed. Im hearing about failures in early 05/06 cars. Also look for oil residue or leaks from the RMS.
If it is a 2005 the bearing can be changed. If it is a 2006, then it can't. My car is a March, 2006 delivery and the bearing is the larger kind. I know some early 2006 models have the replaceable bearing but, in my case, I ordered my car in November, 2005 and had it delivered the above mentioned date and it already had the larger bearing. My car has 42,600 miles nowadays and it there isn't a hint of an oil leak anywhere. The best and most fun car I've had! Go for it!
very good info for the Op. I think when looking for a car such as the one he mentioned that it would be wise to be awair of these issues some are having. I know not many are but its good to be awair. They are really good engines and as cibergpsy mentioned they can be changed an some already have the updated bearing. Best of luck. I dont think it would hurt to ask the original owner about IMS and RMS. Good luck.
$59k isn't a bad asking price - my '07 asking price was $61k+ three months ago. Offer low 50's and see where you come out. Likely they will negotiate with you given the time of the year. Best wishes.
