sorry, double checked the link b4 posting thought it was good. im going for it in the spring. Looked at the hawks site and found pads for the 997. Title is :FOUND genuine dustless pads 996 from Sept 2011good luck if you go before in the Q.
After years of searching, I have finally found a quality street pad that is equal in stopping power, pedal feel, and noise to the stock 996 pad.

Hawk HPS Ferro-Carbon pads

They are not the cheapest pads, they cost about $170 for the fronts, but they are light years better than any other street pad that I have used on my 996.

I have about 1K miles on these new pads, and there is almost no brake dust, and the dust that is there (which I think is more road dust than brake dust) is very light colored and comes right off with a wet rag.

If OEM pad black brake dust drives you crazy, then this is the pad for you.

Bless you, Rich. This is a classic picture, one you must treasure. I have many pics of my 2010, and hope one day-- one day-- I can post it in a future forum and recall these blessed days.

As a concours enthusiast, I agree, the Armor All name is tarnished to say the least in the concours circles. But, I treated my rims on Sunday and checked them again at lunch today. After about 100 miles and a trip in the rain today, my rims look like they have zero brake dust on them. The rims are beading rain better than my fresh wax job on the paint. I'm impressed with this product. Though, since it works so well, I'm expecting AA to discontinue it...anything that works this well can't be legal...I better go buy a case of this while I can...

As a birthday present my son detailed my '06 Cabriolet & he said he was going to put the Armor All wheel protector on the rims. I told him that the Armor All wheel protector was a waste of time & money.

Within a few days I noticed that the rims on the driver's side were full of brake dust but the passenger side was clean. A week later he told me that he saved his time & money by only doing the one side. So this old dog is now a believer in the Armor All wheel protector.

Funny. I agree the product works pretty well.

Here is the MSDS sheet on the Armor All Wheel Protectant: http://www.armorall.com.au/images/li...ant%206-11.pdf

It contains Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane. You will get a good laugh.

Tim K- thanks for the heads-up on the Hawk pads. They sound great but they can't figure out which pads I would need...? Maybe someone at Renntech or Porsche parts. Hope they make some that will fit.

And as for the Armor All product, it really does work well on silver wheels. I use it on my Rover and my wife's Benz. But it puts a light milky white haze on the gloss black wheels and dulls the shine. It's not noticeable on the sliver wheels tho.

It is not a hard "paint". but forms a clear protective barrier. I use it every time I wash
my 997 and it works.

Kirby,
I bought this stuff when I read your post but had to wait until the spring to use it. This stuff is fantastic! I cleaned my wheels and sprayed as directed. The brake dust just comes off with a spray of the hose. No time using special tools to clean the wheels anymore. Thanks for the tip.
