Default Long Term Ownership?

How many of you are planning on keeping your 997's instead of getting a 991? I have a 07 C2S with 30k miles that's been great. Not one problem. I'm starting to wonder if this should be a keeper or if I should go towards the 991. How expensive do think these things will be as they age?

i plan to keep mine as i already dumped more than a half of its original purchase price into its non-stop rebuilds. at this point to spend another $20K for new motor (if it goes) is cheaper than to trade it in for any newer car. if one has clean stock 997 car i see no reason why not to give it away for a new one, if one got enough money to spend.

997 prices will definitely go down big time after 991 cars come out and all 997 cars get off warranty support. 997 is not a collectable, it is just a car, like 996.

I'm tired of chasing the Next Great Thing too.

I don't expect any 991 to be that much better than my GTS Cab.

After many years of car-swapping I may be done... I did say "may be" though

I do not expect prices to go down "big time" as above. Prices will go down, but an '07 with 30K on the clock... not big time, most is already built in

As I have remarked in another thread -- maybe more than once -- I am sufficiently satisfied with my current car that the relatively minor improvements of the new 911 do not make me hunger for the newer model. It may be better -- in fact, it probably is -- but not enough better to make me want trade up.

As the 991 seems to have gone up in price, does this help to support 997 value? To get a 991S with options you're looking at $110-120k. Even base 991 gets to $95k without a lot on it!

not more than price of GTS car supports price on 997.1 cars. it does not.

i wa offered $37K for trade-in on my car this fall when i spoke to a dealer. same time if lucky i could probably get something in high $40K from private party, even with tax in mind it would be more than trade-in, but then you look at $120K (what it was on GTS car i looked at) - so it is a lot of money, really, and then you just think - for what benefit really do i need to shell out so much?

An engine in my car may blowup, or may not blow up. so far it pulls very strong. I have 330-340hp somewhat horses now after all mods, GTS has roughly 400hp. so essentially you buy new warranty and slightly faster car... like if old one is not fast enough. it is a tough decision to make, if one has money he does not know what to do with - then why not. i could not justify for myself to do this and wife was very against it, to put it mildly, as we try to save on next house downpayment...

I'm (still) a working class nug who saved for a long time to be able to afford a new C2 in June 2010. It was worth the 40 year wait. As such, the only way I could see me 'upgrading' would be if someone had a (very) low mile 997 GTS with PDK in a color with options that I like. Then, maybe....

I like the 991, but not nearly enough to go into debt to replace my 997. In fact, until I lay eyes on a 991, I really won't know how much I really do like the car.

By the time the 991 GTS roles out in a few years, it will probably be $140k!

So, maybe not supporting the price, but supporting the decision to keep what I've got!

I won't be buying a 991. I don't like the interior.

I just got my 2009 c2s one month ago & there aint to many around this neck of the woods, and Porsche being about 10% higher priced here than the US plus 13% tax in Ontario, I don't think your going to see to many 991's ! ...figures show that Canada is about 5-7 % sales of US .

I kept my '98 e36 M3 for 10 yrs... the newer M3's kept getting larger, heavier, and more advanced(nanny gizmo)... I believe I'll keep the '08 C2S for just as long since the 991 seems to be headed in a similar direction as the current M3's.

The 997 is a keeper, so no 991 in my future. However, waiting for the soon expected 4 cylinder baby turbo. A light weight frame with sure footed suspension and good TQ/HP would be something to really consider IMO. But, I'll consider trading the Boxster...

I just purchased a 7 yr/ 70K extended warranty for my 2008 C2S. I am committed to enjoy this car for long time.

My 06 C2S has been flawless (knock on wood). I plan to keep my 997 for many more years. If and when the time comes for something else, I'm thinking 997.2 GT3 RS, GT3, or GTS in that order. Also equally tempted to go back in time and get a 993 TT instead.

A used 991 C2S would also be under strong consideration, but I actually think the 997 & 993 are better to look at in my eyes.

I am grateful to be in a position to own a 997. As for all of us on here, it's not a "need", it's a "want." Our needs are satisfied, and this time of the year it is worth reflecting on all I have to be thankful for - cars included. I will not be looking for a 991 - very happy with everything about the 997 - from the exterior lines to the interior.
For those that want and can afford the latest and arguably, the greatest, good for you! I'm content and will be for some time to come.
