scenic route from Nashville, TN to Maryland
If everything goes well, I am going down to Nashville to pick up my new ride, a 997.1. On a fairly tight schedule but is there any particular strech of road worth detour? thanks.

I am assuming you will be traveling on IH-40 and the on IH-81. If so, on the way back, you can take IH-40 to Asheville, NC and drive 110+ miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Blowing Rock, NC. Then take NC 321 North to NC 421, which will take you back to IH-81. It will be a good change from highway driving.
You could also drive the Tail of the Dragon. It is south of IH-40 and Knoxville on HWY 129. You can do a search on the web for details.

I second the above info.

watch the cops and trucks on 81. the stretch from Northern VA to southern VA near Blacksburg is a rock chip expressway with all of the tractor trailers. And every highway crossover will have a police officer on it. Take your time and enjoy the new car in this stretch.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions. I most likely will try the parkway. since i will be both new to the car and the route, dragon might be too much excitment for the initial run. Hopefully will report back next week. thanks.

Cherohala Parkway might suit you then, big scenic sweepers.

I couldn't agree more. This road is absolutely fantastic. I know that the Tail of the Dragon is THE road, but it has so many bikers, many riding too fast and badly, that I did a few miles up it, turned around and went back to the Cherohala. In my opinion, the Cherohala is a candidate for one of the best road's in the world.
