Unhappy one unbelivable trouble with my 997 today...

Was planning to put the car into storage today so going over all I needed to do.
The one last thing to check just in case as I need to remove my battery due to no AC outlet at my storage is the door lock.
So I locked the door with my remote then attempted got to be one of the most basic fuction of any car; to open it with the key.
Interesting enough, it DOESN'T work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried both of my keys and turned it every way I can and door just won't unlock. Unlock the door with the remote and try to use the key to lock it back, again it DOESN'T work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Know I have to wait until Monday to bring it to a dealership to get it fixed (got to be covered under warranty). Hope weather holds up and still enough time to store it before snow comes...
3 hours of washing and waxing, and might have to do it all over again.
What a day.

its your car telling you: " Don't put me away from the winter, give me a set of winter tires and I ll take you sideways"

Similar problem for me - key 2 (key 1 worked OK) worked in ignition but not in door or glovebox. Dealer ordered new key using VIN...same problem with new key. Dealer said door lock and glove box lock must have been changed by prior owner. Solved by taking key blank to locksmith and he copied key 1.

I did the exact same thing to my car Friday, removed the battery but my keys worked to lock and unlock the door on my 2009 C2s .

Good luck

In 997.1, dead electrical system = no way to unlock door if locked with remote.

But I can't even lock with the keys.
Does it make any difference locking with key or remote when trying to open with keys?

You are going to need the battery installed in your car to enable the key fob or keys themselves to work in the lock.

Come Spring when you re-install the battery everything should be fine.

Got it fixed at a dealership yesterday. I always suspect the issue is due to human error and after the fix I'm more convinced. The SA told me the issue is not covered by warranty as my door panel was opened before may be for some paint job due to an accident and some sort of a latch was not connected correctly at that time.
I looked at him and told him I don't know for sure if the car had a paint job from accident as I brought it used but it is a CPO and wouldn't the dealership knows if it had a paint job on the door and not try to sell it as a CPO??? Also what I can tell for sure is that I had the car in his dealership 2 months or so ago to fix my driver side door handle as it was broken. I'm 100% sure the door panel did get removed at that time by his dealership.
He had his eyes wide opened asked me to wait for a min then came back out saying the bill is all taken care of.
OMG dealership... whether it is Ford or Porsche dealerships always suck.

Glad it all finally worked out for you mc, keep note of all details from previous repairs, as sometimes the dealer does not !
