Default GUNDO; name change

I have a 997.2 w/o PSE that I had on my 997.1
Missed it alot, was looking at installing anything LOUDER.
PSE installed, over $3K
Decided to try GUNDO hack but was hesititating because of the word hack
I did it last week and its great.
I vote to change the name to THE GUNDO.
The word hack, doesnt belong.

How about the "Gundo Anastomosis" ? This would give it a more noble, surgical name!

Too funny as I was having a "discussion" on another thread on this subject. I think you are right that some people see "hack" and think there is something wrong with this mod (and I made the same point on the AWE crossover thread). However I also believe that there is a certain element out there that believe that if its not OEM then its shiite.

Some have argued that they dont like it because it creates turbulence or its not the same air flow as the PSE. But given it has no effect on performance, no one has come up with an answer to my question of So What? Its about the sound and it does a great job at that at a fraction of the PSE cost

My suggestion was Porsche Sport Exhaust Not Done By Porsche and Not Charged Accordingly or
Gundo - Sounds great and less Dollars (sounds like a Miller lite commercial - Gundo - SGLD)

Have fun!

I've also heard it called the "fister mod" elsewhere because it's been done many times by these guys:

My experience with them is that they do great work. no affiliation.

The "Gundo" is fine with me.

Hey Vern1, we could call it the "Scott997". Poetic justice!

Thumbs up

Darren Fister sells his own version which many guys, including me, have on their 993's. The Stage III's that I have on my 993 are an all internal mod ie no crossover pipe and this version is a REAL aggressive sound. I wish Darren would do a Stage III for a 997 as I would buy it in a heart beat

PTParks, like the name

Pardon my ignorance, but where did the name "Gundo" come from anyway? Is it somebody's name, an acronym or something else altogether?

Yes, & no. You are partially correct, the PSE exit (blanked off in non-PSE equipped cars) is connected in my car to the outlet side of the muffler but in a true PSE it runs in it's own pipe parallel to the twin exhausts seen on either side of PSE equipped cars.
So I'm sporting a modified Gundo then?

You realize the etymology of the word 'hack' has changed significantly in the last 10 years. It is no longer just reserved solely for negative connotations, eg "hack job", or "he is such a hack."

The word now can have a positive connotation. It encompasses the engineering spirit, the idea that you can make modify and existing product and make it better, or tailor it to your needs.

Being offended by the word hack is what I would expect from the old man yelling at those crazy kids to get off his lawn.
