^^ interesting comment. what exactly is there not to like ? i'm researching sport cats at the moment and believe the cross over design is better suited than an x-pipe format.

...the "Gundo Hack" is nothing more than what Porsche does with their sport exhaust. They just gussy it up with a bunch of valves and switches and charge you $2K+ for the option of turning it on or off (big whoop). Plenty of Porsche owners have done the mod, but I insist that you spend your money anyway you want.

Then pls do tell us what performance advantages (or for that matter any advantages) a PSE system has over a simple gundo mod or why we would need to feel better about it? Ans pls dont tell us an on/off switch

The condescending tone you may have picked up on was in response to that statement; that we could save thousands on the cost of PSE by doing a gundo hack.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I have read the entire thread and in fact you would have seen that i have quite a few posts in it if you had. The hack does not remove the center muffler. It is simply a crossover pipe welded between the inlet and outlet pipes on the muffler. My point (and others) is that you CAN in fact save thousands by just doing the gundo. Same sound as the PSE, one tenth the cost. Previous posters seem to intimate that there is something wrong with the gundo but no one can seem to point out what that is

Oh my....
Sorry to have offended you or anyone on this. I was referring to the Shark Werks by-pass and on the 997.2 is is as I've discribed. And no, sorry, but it doesnt sound the same as PSE with or without the hack. Anyway, this is all a matter of preference. I'm glad everyone who has done the hack like how their 911 sounds.
All the best,
Greg

Greg, I am not offended. As I have said before i just prefer people to say what they mean, not throw out vague innuendos that soemething is wrong with the mod but never back it up with details (previous posters not you)
However I am not following you. On a 997.1 the PSE and gundo sound virtually the same. You would never do both though.
So I am not sure what you mean by "it doesnt sound the same as PSE with or without the hack"? You would do PSE or gundo, not both, regardless of whether you have the bypass or not
Regards

I've ridden in PTParks' car.. to me the sound is perfect. No 'drone' at highway speeds, not much louder than stock at idle, but when he pushes the 'go pedal', the sound coming from the back of the car is music.
I don't know how much difference adding the crossover pipe makes, rather than just doing the hack, but for a guy who wants the car to sound 'right', without spending thousands, I can confirm that the 'hack' is a viable alternative.
I plan to make similar mods to my car.
There, I've said it.
