Default Bra for 997

Much as I don't like using a bra on the car, we are planning to take long road trip next year.
I hope to find a used one as I would only use it for this once a year trip, anyone have any pros or cons about this?
I have seen the clear bras and don't really care for that.
Anyone have one they are no longer using?
06 997 cab....
Tnx
Daniel

You don't need to spend a fortune (speedlingerie) on these things, yet they do a very good job. I brought one to Europe to use occasionally on the autobahn. They definitely stay on up to speeds we're never going to see stateside. Colgan for this one. Fit is excellent.

the fabric bras are pretty troublesome, they have their problems. Its sort of like a functional eyesore. Thats why they faded out some years ago. The clear bras are nearly perfect for all the time protection, to an extent of being able to stop small chips by small objects. But very costly.
As for the Road Wrap, its hard to put on, comes off in a heart beat, looks like hell, only good for a few short miles.

Suncoast has the Porsche 997 fabric bra for $129. Cheap insurance for a long road trip.

The SUNCOAST bra they tell me is actually a PORSCHE product. However, it does not cover the fenders around the headlights, it looks like the COLGAN one does.
Any comments on this?

After reading the post by mjsporsche, I thought that was the one I wanted. It seemed perfect for the occasional long highway trip. (i used one on my C6 Corvette and it worked great.)

I emailed Suncoast and the reply I received was....

"Sorry but Porsche doesn't offer a bra for your car. You can try places like, Colgan bra or Speed lingerie"

Not suggesting that Suncoast does not know parts or accessories, but they need to look at their own website and be more familiar with their product offerings. OK...a little harsh and only a silly mistake.

I think this link might help!

If that's the Porsche bra (I followed the link) then I would definitely buy the Colgan--much better protection and it fits to at least 180 mph. (My Colgan 997 bra worked to 180).

Standard warnings apply. Do not leave it on if it gets wet. it will fog the paint. Water gets trapped between the paint and the clear coat. Not to worry too much. Setting the car in the sun or for faster drying use a hair dryer - this works to dry it up. Ask me how I know :-). Better yet, don't get it wet

Otherwise, my car has one on all the time. Butt Ugly but after 5 years no chips on the bumper.

I had a "Porsche" bra (made by Colgan) for my '05 and it looked like the one in Dan's photo and worked well. When I got my '09 and tried to buy a bra from the dealer Porsche did not list one..even a year after intro. I was told that Colgan was bought out by someone else that Porsche didn't deal with. Ordered one from the "new" Colgan and what I got was more what looks like the one on Suncoast's picture. Still works but a poorer design and not as good coverage.

Not sure if I like those kinds of Bra... if one's worried, Clear Bra is the only way to go.

I just bought an 06 S and put on the 3M clear bra..
put it on the sides as well as the front! wasn't cheap but I live in the country, asphalt roads but
still occasional loose gravel is an issue.. A month latter of hard driving.. no chips

I can tell you that the clear bras work great. Just had a dam coke can hit my hood on the 91 freeway the other day and no a single dent or scratch!
