Default Trans flush w/ OEM fluid, now hard shifting...

('05 C2, 41K miles) I recently had my indy do a service for me which included having him do a trans flush. I provided the OEM Porsche trans. fluid ($$!). Interestingly, it is now significantly more difficult to get into lower gears than before. Is that to be expected?

I just had mine done (2006 987S) with OEM fluid, about $23/quart from Sunset, and it still shifts like budder.

You would expect something like that if a) weather is colder than reference point and b) from cold start - as transmission warms it should return to the old "feel". Otherwise something went wrong during the service.

Did you provide this trans fluid:

FYI, here was my used oil analysis from the trans/gear oil, I'm glad I did mine about 55,000 miles early:

No HTw O, yes, I did supply that very fluid, even purchased it from Suncoast (they're in my back yard). It doesn't seem to smooth out a lot when warm, maybe a little but not what I expect. But my cold starts in the afternoon are at about 80+ degrees right now...may have to ask them...

No HTwo O,

What was your mileage when you changed the 987S tranny fluid? Looks like you did it at a good time.
Was this the original factory fluid?

Thanks,

No reason to flush the transmission fluid. A simple drain and refill with the proper amount and correct type of fluid is all that is called for.

What fluid was used to flush the transmission with?

Sincerely,

Macster.

Hi Dave, it's on the report, about 44,700 miles (all mine). Yes, factory fill was drained, and refilled with OEM fluid. About 3 quarts. Wear metals were very good. Viscosity was a little low. So, I am glad I did it early. Total cast was about $23/quart of fluid and 1 hour shop time ($115/hour).

As a long time Porsche owner I can tell you that a tranny oil change will do nothing when it comes to the feel of that tranny. You have other issues.

My ex-cayman S got a little stiffer shifting close to 30k miles. Changing the transmission fluid seemed to help.
