I am looking at 06 Tip Cabs here in FL...low mileage 2S'S right colors (for me) are around $55,000 (asking price for CPO)...
But it seems that the same cars are less expensive in CA?
Are 30,000 mile cars like this bringing the low $50's there?
What about the resale of a C4 at 46,000 miles now being resold in 2 years ??
Granted I'm looking for a "Chrono" how important is that?
I do like the wide body look however...
After a while all these cars begin to "run together" in your head and you forget which is what!!
Yeah, I know $50,000 to spend...what a quandry
I don't know about California, but Florida Porsche asking prices are insanely high.
Not to worry, I flew to Virginia last March and picked up a base 2007 997.1, 16,000 miles with 19" wheels, Tiptronic, all leather seats, power seat package and xenons for less than $50k (MSRP $83,370) with a free CPO warranty thrown in.
There are always other places to shop if your state doesn't want to deal.
Looks like I forund the right (close to) car
You can't always ger exactly what you want in options...but the important ones are on this 06
Question what does the dealer do to make a car a CPO. Are there minimums for brake thickness, tread depth...etc? What else ?
I bought my car from Chicago, rarely a deal found around here
seems Tx offers some attractive prices
Word I get is the bay area appears to be suffering less unemployment than other areas of CA. This will be reflected in used car prices here vs. elsewhere in CA.
But I would think Texas cars would also have a premium since unemployment in Texas is low. Also, on a road trip across the midwest just a few weeks ago I had a heck of a time finding a motel room in west Oklahoma.
I asked a motel clerk why and he told me alot of rooms were booked by oil/gas well workers. He went on to tell me that from the OKC border to the TX/OK state line all motels were booked up usualy pretty early in the evening. And in the panhandle of TX at Amarillo at the Dury Inn Hotel I spotted several people rolling in racks of uniforms. I asked and was told they were for the oil workers staying at the hotel. I asked around and found many oil workers staying there and in other motels/hotels in the area.
The oil/gas industry at least in that part of the country is booming.
At night from I-40 I could see more than a few lighted drilling rigs.
Sure glad CA frowns upon oil/gas wells. Helps keep the unemployment high and gas and fuel prices high. I'm paying 50 cents or more per gallon of gas here in CA than I paid in OK and TX.
If you find a car out here in the LA area I would drive it out to you. When I was looking for my 997 I found a beautiful one in FL and always thought the coolest road trip would to fly out, buy a car and drive it cross country home.
I encourage you to fly out and drive it home, but if for some reason you cant let me kow.
I bought my car from a fellow rennlister in the Bay area of CA and drove it to Texas (Houston). The prices here in H-Town can be crazy at the local dealerships and the dealer I went to did not want to move much on price for the 2 CPO cars I was interested in(I guess it all depends on the car and the salesman).
I agree with signature65's comment above. I drove mine back all 2100 miles and had the time of my life. Make a road trip of it. Good luck with the search.

yeah - you got one of the best bay area deals too (from what I recall) - on a hot looking car as well
