Smile Porsche as a daily driver

It has been several months since I bought my 2007 C4S Targa and I have put on 3k miles on it. Targa roof rattle and squeaks were cured with some helpful hints from this forum. And the car feels amazingly civilized on even the rough roads. On the highway, it remains free of rattles except for the wind and tire noise and the screaming flat six.

I got the car for week end use but it has since become my DD. My other car BMW 535i is gathering dust. I am already planning some mods including Tubi exhaust, Rennline pedal set and Dectane LED lights. Awesome daily driver with the heart and soul of a race car...unbelievable combination for sub-100k price tag.

I like to know the experience of other members who use P- car as DD, especially the ones with different models, viz. turbo, GT3 etc.

It's a great daily car. Unless you need to haul lots of people or stuff, it's hard to beat. I drove mine daily for a couple of years. I could never justify spending that much money on a car and have it sit for 85% of the time...

I've used my 997 Porsches, including my previous 07 Targa 4S, as daily drivers for over 4 years now, and never get tired of them. I also love taking long trips in them once in a while. They are fantastic cars.

I have an M5 which also languishes in the garage in favor of the 997. Even my daughter asks to be taken to school in the 911, and she's 4.

I had my '04 996 C2 for 3 years and 3 months and it was my DD. I now have a 2010 C2S, and it is, and will continue to be, my DD. In between the Porsches was a Honda Accord, which gave me 3 years and 3 months of reliable, but boring and unexciting daily driving.

My '09 C4S is my daily driver - year round. In late December, the snow tires/wheels will go on until March. It has about 59k miles on it - I drive it about 75 miles/day during the week. I find it a perfect daily driver. It's the right combination of fun and comfortable. A bad day at work gets much better when the engine fires up

Ironically, I drive it less on weekends than I do during the week. Weekends, it mostly goes out for autocrosses and club events (and a few road trips). I spend the rest of the time on weekends driving the minivan taking our dogs training and to events...

I'm interested to hear from anyone who uses a GT3 as a daily driver. Has anyone ever been nuts enough to put snows on a GT3 and drive it in the snow I keep thinking that's what I might do in another couple of years but I'm worried that the air dam will make an awful snow plow

I DD mine. I don't see the point of having such an awesome car and driving a lesser car. I have another car for when I need 4 doors or a quiet ride to do a conference call. However, it doesn't get used very often. Even, commutes in tough traffic are more fun in the 997. The 997.2 is extremely capable as a DD. Especially with PDK.

I'm using my recently purchased 2006 base 997 as my daily driver. Drop the kids off at school, go to work, pile it full of groceries, put the snows on for winter use, etc. It's a great vehicle for daily use. I've used 3.2 liter Carrera 911's for daily use as well during the driving season and even those cars are just fine for daily use if you keep up on the maintenance.

I too would like to know if anyone is using a GT3 for winter use...though why not as long as clearance was not an issue and winter tires are in place.

I have a new 2012 C2S and am daily driving it. I am getting to age that I am not going to put off driving this awesome machine. If I wear it out and I can afford it, I will get another. If I am unable due to age or finances to get another, I will not regret the time we will spend together over the next half few years.

That's funny, the part about your daughter. I've been telling my daughter since she was seven (she's ten now) that if she didn't hurry up and and get ready for school that we'd take the Audi. Her pace after such a warning is always noticeably quicker!

I bought my 911 for my weekend pleasure but turned it to my daily driver. I just can't bear the thought of caring/preserving it for the next owner. Especially with new 991 around the corner, my objective is to rack up the miles in case I trade it in.

Porsche should use these threads in their current Ad campaign promoting 911 as a daily driver. What better attestation than current owners who swear by their cars as DDs!

Both my P's share daily driver duties. The GTS is my go to work car when I don't need to haul more than one person to lunch and my weekend track car; the P4S is for taking coworkers to lunch, going skiing, and acting as a station wagon. I put about 13K miles per year on each car.
