Too good to be true? I trust you guys to steer me right.

As some of you know, I'm looking at least 2-3 hours a day all over the net hoping to find a really nice car for a reasonable amount. Hoping to find that deal that is too good to pass up and lands me my dream car.

I found a 2007 Turbo for $35,900 that is pretty much what I'm looking for and a little more. A dealer has it but something just doesn't seem right. First the front end doesn't appear to be a 997.1 but a 997.2 instead. Mileage is a little high (69,866) but the car looks decent from the pictures.

I hope if this is for real I didn't blow it by pointing it out for someone else to scoop up but I just had to get opinions here because this is all so new to me and I don't want to make a mistake.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Its prob to good to be true. If you are local you can go and check it out but you could part the car out and make more than 36K for it. That car is atleast 20-30k below market value, at least.

The car looks nice and you should not be concerned about the front end. LEDs on 07 Turbo were on there from the beginning and the 997.2 Carrera caught up with the Turbo in 09. The price really seems too good to be true for sure, but given it is at a dealer it is hard to believe it is a scam. Miles are a little high but that engine is reliable. It may have a lot of wear and tear. For that price, it is worth checking out.

Ohiolefty,
I did the same thing that you are doing and it took me 6 months. I finally found what I was looking for just this past May... I got an 06 C4 w/27000 miles for $41500. I think what you found is too good to be true. Good luck with your search.

Look at the Carfax. Most likely has been dinged. Might not be a problem if it was repaired by a reputable dealer. I wrecked mine a few years ago and I doubt anyone could tell. Since it was hit in the rear I ended up with a Fabspeed exhaust and X51 header pipes for $3,000 grand less than the factory muffler and headers. The wreck was the best thing that ever happened to my car ha ha. Not really, but I love the Fabspeed exhaust and I doubt I would have spent the $$$ money to change it out otherwise.

You guys have no idea how much I appreciate your input. Sometimes my enthusiasm to find the Porsche that's right for me blurs my better judgment. I've waited a long time for this and I know I shouldn't get in a hurry now.

Instead of looking for something that I like, I should wait to find what I think I really want within my budget ('06-'08 White/Black C4S). Every time I come across a picture of the rear end of a White C4S, I'm reminded why I'm really looking. Patience has never been my strong suit. Don't get me wrong, I love Black, Silver, Red, I even saw a Turquoise Targa with Tan interior one time and thought it really worked for that car. There is just something about a White C4S that I can't explain. But then again, I wouldn't rule out a Turbo in any color if the price was right.

Thanks for listening...

Meanwhile the honest dealer is sitting there saying "I just don't understand, at this price the car is a steal. Why didn't it sell already?"

If it is too good to be true, it is probably a scam. But, if you can see it in the flesh and get a PPI, take it and run. Good luck!

A little browsing on that dealer website shows that this same Turbo is also on there for 59,900

http://www.dzmotors.com/inventory.php

http://www.dzmotors.com/details.php?id=3228

I'm guessing the 35,900 is a typo and/or web error. Still, probably worth a call to check on the reasons for the difference.

Good luck and keep us posted!

At that price it's still too good to be true... but it's worth checking out if local. BTW, if you ever find an internet price error on porsche.com/usa... do a quick print out and call the dealer... they have to honor it if it's on their official website. And it does happen.

Anyone else know if this is true? I found a Panamera S last month on Porsche.com/USA and I called the dealership. They said they wouldn't honor it since it was a typo. Listed it for $59,000 for 2011 with less then 10,000 miles. Car was actually $89,000

You also need to get a carfax/autocheck and preferably go to the Porsche dealer to pull up any service history. At this price i would suspect prior damage/salvage etc etc

My p-dealer resisted at 1st. Told me there was no way they could honor the price because they had paid $6K more for the trade in... but when I mentioned that I would have to call Porsche USA to see why a price on their website could not be honor the dealer caved. I flew out the next day to buy it. Had a local indy do the PPI and meet me at the dealership. They tried to sell it to some one else while my Indy was doing the PPI but he got scared off by the RMS leak my Indy found. Apparently they had it on the lot for 4+ months and the seal dried out. Had the dealer replace it and I was GTG... figured I had saved about $10K on an '08 997.1s with 1.3 yr of original warranty and 2 yrs afterwards of CPO. Just fight for it and do everything in email so there is a paper trail. And be prepared to jump so they don't sell it from underneath you.
