I went back and watched the video again. Its not a model of clarity and is suspectible to being understood differently.
One interpretation: 6spd is the comfort trans. PDK the sporty trans.
Other interpretation: Both are "sport" transmissoins with comfort gear being 7th in both.
Its clear the 7th gear in both is an overdrive.
What is clear from the video is the noticable size increase in the 911. Looks longer and lower and more "GT" to me.

I agree. If a 7th gear is what it takes to get to the new MPG standards then so be it. I really don't use 6th that much for that matter unless I'm cruising over 60mph or on the interstate. I try not to lug the engine and prefer to keep the revs around 3k. Sounds good too. If it's simply an overdrive I don't see a problem. Noise reduction is not a bad thing on a long ride either.
