Default 997 Turbo S Spyder Pics

Gents...I think I have seen heaven or close to it today! Was at the dealer to pickup my C4S today (it was not ready due to a PCM glich..that's okay as they still have me in a Panamera loaner!) and in the showroom was this sweet vehicle here! General Manager showed it to me and explained that it was a special order car for a customer who had ordered a 918 Spyder also. Custom ordered and painted...from what he said there are limited #'s of these in the US and you had to basically order a 918 (have one on order) to be able to get an allocation for one. Cost my friends I think he said was north of $190k but I must say I was impressed enough to say IF I had it like that...its not a bad way to go my friends! I'd die in this here car!

Manager says the buyer has a Cayman R and a few others Porsche (honestly I wasn't paying attention but was too busy snaping pics with my iphone)! LOL That there is one lucky P-car owner...Enjoy the pic!

IMO, this car is either brilliant marketing or blatant thievery. Can't decide which.

Full pics posted...Aparently you can't get one without ordering a 918 Sypder...thus the Spyder literally stitched all over this car! I was confused at 1st as to why it was called a Spyder until the GM came over and explained it to me! LOL

Just silly. It's sort of like cocaine. It's God's way of telling you that you have too much money!

ok, its' good to see that I am not the only other person who thinks this is a monumentally silly car. Not to say its not a beautiful example of a Porsche, but the pure money grab is as clear and in your face as the day-glo yellow badging.

Yes I can agree with that. GM said owner had called daily to see if it had come in yet! LOL Guess he needed his Porsche fix!

According to GM; special order only. Had to buy a 918 Spyder, and new owner wrote a check for close to a million dollars for both the 918 Spyder and this Special edition Turbo S! So I guess you are correct on both accounts guys!

Wow I remember reading about this and thought it was just another Porsche marketing gimmick. I didn't expect anyone would actually buy one!

Yeah, nice way for Porsche to do the usual end-of-model parts-bin dump and created this 'sacred' edition. Yes, it's not so bad....we'd all probably take one if given one for free (and debadged!). But to plunk down the 200k non refundable for the 918 in order to have the privilege to 'buy' this for 200k, well, yeah, it's pretty stupid in my opinion. For the collector who thinks this will hold value, one can only hope so. To the rest of us who actually drive our 911's, pfffft. Just another marketing ploy, and a costly one at that!

Seems expensive for Fluorescent yellow badges, calipers, needles and deviated stitching.

As if we don't have enough problems explaining 997, 911, Carrera, now they badge it as 918 and spyder.

Was going to say out the door with both cars is near
$1M. Silly is an understatement actually.

God knows the 918 is about $400K overpriced. Don't care how much R&D cost were on the car. Hell VW group takes a hit on each Veyron sold.

I suspect this will become a very rare and collectable car in the future. I like the Acid Green accents. Don't like all the "wordy" badging.

I think the most interesting part is the painted calipers, something i think Porsche should have as an option but never have.

This obviously shows that they are willing and able to do it.

It's like those license plate frames that read " My other car is a _______ " except in neon yellow on the doors and seats. Don't like either one! Proves the old adage: "A fool and his money are soon parted!"
