Default mats

Lloyds are MUCH better!!!! Have them in my
'08 C4S...... Factory mats look bad in a few thousand miles.....Lloyds look good for tens of thousands. Put 220,000 miles on my 1988 930...and the second set still looks OK.....but I think I'll get a new front set...now that you remind me. PS. Lloyds clean well....

Lloyds are quite good--can be thought to easily eclipse the factory ones. Also, for a retro look--and substantial durability, try Coco Mats. Today's Coco Mats are much better than they used to be in the 1970s. They have a heavy solid backing that virtually precludes anything from penetrating them. They really never have to be cleaned at all.

+1 on Coco Mats. They're the best.

I bought a couple sets of black mats from Suncoast to replace the beige mats that came with the new car.
They are the exact same mats that come from the factory.

Got to tell you that they are holding up great.... $40. a set... At that price I can change them out once a year if I want... It's an 09 and I'm still on the originals...

Bought my CoCoMats in 2007--they never need replacing.

Did you get them on sale? Current pricing at Suncoast for a set of 4 black mats for a cab is $165. Some of the other colors are on sale for closer to $40.
Edgy: where did you get your coco mats?

Had Lloyds mats in both my 928's and didn't really care for them. The carpet pile is too thick (even the ultimats) and it indents very quickly. I plan on buying another set of factory sets and storing them in the cellar for future use since I like the look of the factory mats. YMMV

Do they still use the clips to hold them in place? Bought a set for my -06 C4S that came that way. The mats themselves were ok but the clips didn't work at all. I tried to glue welcro to the bottom of them and hold them in place with the factory welcro on the floor but that didn't work either (glue wouldn't stick to the glossy bottom of the mat). Lloyds were real ****** about it and I ended up throwing them away.

Lloyds has a patently clip system that works well--attaches to the frame rail. Then that clips to the aft corners of the mats. Only CoCo mats stay in place on their own--they are rather heavy.

When I bought my '09 C2S, the previous owner had installed coco mats. I personally don't like the look but the are incredibly durable. I bought OEM carpet mats on sale from Suncoast for $40. Use carpet in the summer when the weather is good, switch to coco in the winter when it's rainy.

Best o' both worlds!

My factory mats still look new after 53K miles. Not sure why Bruce says they look bad after a few thousand miles. I do like the way you can customize lloyd mats and will probably replace eventually with them. But at the rate I am going, I will be dead before the factory mats wear out.

The OEM mats don't last very long, I replaced them at 20K because the driver's side was worn through under the heel. I replaced them with Lloyds mats. The carpeting is better, but Lloyd's securing system doesn't secure. I'm constantly reattaching the clip ends. In contrast, the OEM velcro-style anchors worked very well.
Next time around, I won't be buying Lloyds mats because of the clip system.

If the clip system works well they must have come out with an improved design. I think it's pretty well documented that the old system did not work well. The barbs on the male portion of the clip that inserted into the female portion mounted to the frame rail were too wimpy and slipped out of place at the slightest tug.
