Default European Delivery...

I know it costs an extra 2-4k, but what does this include? Has anyone done this recently? Worth it? I feel like it would be a great experience. I am not so interested in touring Europe for 2 weeks but rather getting to go the factory and visiting the Museum and staying in Stuttgart for a few days.

I've taken delivery of all 3 of my 911's at the factory, in 1984, 1999, and most recently in 2009. Included in the tourist delivery price are one night's stay in a first class hotel, rebate of taxi charges to and from the delivery center, factory tour, complimentary entry to the museum, excellent gourmet lunch, personal introduction to your car by a factory representative, 2 weeks insurance and vehicle registration for driving the car in Europe, and return shipping from the factory to your dealer at the end of your trip. There are other European dropoff points, but there are additional fees for that service.

If you're not going to drive the car in Europe you will be missing a big part of the experience and value of the Tourist Delivery package. I assume you may drive the car even if you are just in Stuttgart for a few days but you won't get the full payback on the insurance or savings on a rental car you would have to otherwise pay for, not to mention missing all the great European driving roads. You can, of course, visit the factory and museum, or have lunch at the restaurant without doing Tourist Delivery. Keep in mind too, that you will have to wait an additional 6-8 weeks after your car is delivered in Zuffenhausen to have it returned to the States, assuming that's where you're located.

Tourist Delivery is a great experience, but it's more difficult to justify the expense if you aren't going to drive the car much while you are there.

Simple, do it in June of next year... and go to France for the 24hrs of Le Mans, and then stick around for the 24hrs at the Ring 2 weeks later. Can't beat that!

Usually, there are also two European Delivery dates (Grand Tour) that fall in May and September (or nearby those times) that include more things, e.g., cocktail parties and dinners, and a run out to Weissach for some time there doing some hot laps in their latest offerings. Contact their Factory Delivery representative at PCNA for specifics. (The woman who used to do that singlehandedly in Atlanta is now gone).
