Default GPS position error

I have an '07 Carrera 4S with the factory PCM/GPS sat nav system which I purchased new and has worked great until the warranty expired a few months ago. Now it shows my position on the map as 20 miles away from where I actually am though it still moves around on the map as I drive. The dealer wants to install some software at a cost to me of $477.

Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it successfully?

Are you sure it is set to show your current location? I have accidently unchecked that box before and it was showing another location.
