Definitely check it out in the AM with a strong flashlight. Hopefully, it was only something like the headers--they do hang pretty low! Good luck!

Looks like the headers protected the crankcase. You said you backed over - it must have really been high or you had some momentum going for that ding to appear - just the one side?

Mine bottomed out on the crankcase when one wheel went over a curb on a right turn. Fortunately it only cracked the plate where the oil drain plug was. Porsche make a factory skid plate that covers the bottom of the motor. It was cheap by Porsche stanards (<$200) Very easy to install as the crank case is already drilled for the bolts.
These cars are really low and this shield should be standard equipment!!!

I honestly think there is no risk if you leave it as is.
The reality is that the header is simply a piece of tubing to remove exhaust gases. They are curved and shaped to generate a desired back pressure to the exhaust ports on the cylinders. A small ding like yours will not create any significant restriction or alteration to the back pressure..........it might even be a performance mod for all we know.

As long as it doesn't leak then it should be fine.

unfortunately doesnt work that way. exhaust (same as intake manifold) design is to time pulses from individual exhaust ports in such way as to increase the overall velocity of exhaust gases. leaving the oem manifolds as is will lead to cracks. cracks will lead to exhaust leaks. exhaust leaks will lead to DME running the car rich, and at minimum decreasing the engine power.
