On my 2006 the temp button was starting to peel. It is a spray on coating, and I could see the detail starting to go on the "TEMP" markings. I touched it up with some flat black paint (either testers or spray paint shot into a container) and a detail paint brush like you find in hobby shops (also good for small paint touchups). To protect it I then applied a small layer of clearcoat over the lettering and I haven't had any sign of peeling since.
I have not had too much trouble with my BMWs, but my older Audi the plastic started to turn sticky. Duplicolor also makes a semi flat black spray paint called "trim black" that is a good touchup for these types of parts. They also make a more durable version called "bumper coating" that is also potentially a good match. I won't go into a great amount of detail of how these can be used to do interior parts touch up, but creative and concours-type owners will/figure it out.

I have a 2006 with 42000 miles and no deterioration at all to the climate control switches. The only problem I had within the interior was the seatbelt rubbing on the outboard side of the sport seat and removing th finish on the leather. Both of these issues are not formally acknowledged by PCNA.

I had the same issue. I ordered a can of "plasti dip" on line which is a liquid rubber. Comes in a can and is very thick. Made to go over plastic. Pour some in a small container and then thin it with toluene and it will go on using a small paint brush. I put 2 coats on. Also can get it at a Ace Hardware store.
