Seduced by an evil parking spot...

Normally in our business parking garage I take extreme car to park against a retaining wall on the second floor with a good amount of room on the drivers side to protect it from other cars opening their doors and dinging the crap out of mine. But two days ago, after the long weekend here, an empty parking spot just in and a straight shot from the entrance beckoned me to take it. Against better judgement I backed into it leaving what I thought was ample room on the passenger side etc... I find yesterday a ding and paint chip in the passengers door. Does anyone have any experience in how to get this out and fixed without having to repaint the door? Ding King first then Dr. Color Chip? Seduced and with regret...

Depends how big the chip. Paintless Dent Repair first to remove the ding, then see what you have to deal with. If it's tiny enough of a scrape you can get away with Dr. Color Chip or other techniques, but on silver, it's not easy doing this on a vertical panel (easier on hood, for example).
See a pro if you are uncertain, but PDR first, then decide on paint.
Does the place use security cams? You might find the idiot.

Are you sure there's a chip or is it surface paint from the other car's door? PDR first.
I've used Dr. Colorchip, the paint was a perfect match. It's more for small chips than scratches, and I had both, not real big, but noticeable. I did get the scratches ok, but a pita. I'd give it a good rating, it won't be invisible but it will be a lot less noticeable, only you will know it's there. There's a small learning curve and if it isn't right the first time you can try again until you get it right. After it cures you can reapply to build it up if it's deep. Beats a respray of the panel. Good Luck!

I had a similar thing happen on my touareg, best thing to do is to do pdr first, then use touchup.
I have tried both dr colorchip and the factory porsche touchup on my arctic silver and found the porsche touchup paint matches the color better. Although it wont be perfect, the silver is one tough color to touchup. Make sure you use the porsche clearcoat after the touchup.

Done. Looks good as new except for the divot out of the paint. The guy at Dents Unlimited in Port Moody was excellent. Total artist believe it or not. Now on to Dr. C Chip... Will post pics later...

You jinxed me! Parked all by myself in the mall parking lot and got a small ding the size of half my thumb!!! Taking to dealer for PDR. 250 bucks!!!! Oh well. It's better than micro analyzing it for the next several years.

They must somehow be related then to lost socks in the dryer... maybe there's a time-space conversion portal or a screw up in the dryer "energizer". Ya think? Hmmm... It boggles the mind. How can you part way out in the middle of a mall parking lot a get a ding the size of your thumb? Some times you just have to say WTF.

At least they are repairable! Hate paying 250 to the dealer since most places quote 150 but I get a free loaner and a wash. So that helps me think that I am not getting totally ripped off.

If you have to pay $250 for one dent, then you should at least get a "reach around" while they are giving it to you.
Find a good PDR guy and deal directly with him.
