After lurking for 2+ weeks I decided to go ahead and say hi now that I have a picture or two to share of my new GTS.
I still have a 1995 M3 that I bought new in June 1994 and have tracked and autocrossed fairly extensively. The new car bug caught me three years ago, but I had become disenchanted with the ever increasing dimensions, weight and complexity of the newer M3s, so I visited a Houston area Porsche dealer and purchased a Boxster RS 60 Spyder. I loved the car, but couldn't enjoy the top down experience often enough and never felt comfortable with the idea of tracking a roadster, so decided to check out 911s earlier this month.
And wound up trading in the Boxster for a speed yellow 2011 GTS that I had seen at the dealership in April. Yes, it had remained unsold and displayed in their showroom for 10-12 weeks. While not optioned perfectly, it was close enough and available.
I already have a few questions and issues that I will post soon. And perhaps get some photos in a more picturesque setting! The amber side markers are already replaced.

It's funny how in certain areas certain colors are slow to move. It takes awhile to find a match between colors and owners. Glad to have you aboard! May your GTS stay sound and give you years of excitement on the roads!

Bob,
Welcome and congrats... I am scheduled to pick up my SY 2008 C2S from a fellow rennlister in 10 days (and counting). I live in the League City/Dickinson area - hope to see you on the road.
I would love to see the clear side markers - I think the orange is "ok" against the SY, but am undecided.

Speed Yellow plus aero package? You won't be slipping under the radar with that combination. Can you compare and contrast with the Boxster Spyder?
Congrats and allow me to echo the request for more pictures!

I've aready had a close encounter with a Texas DPS officer while traversing some hills on a two lane road in the Sam Houston Nat'l Forest area north of Houston. Nailed by instant-on radar from an approaching cruiser while still accelerating after an intersection turn perhaps an eighth mile back. So doing ~65 mph in a 60 zone. I imagine all he had to see was the yellow roof emerging over a hill and my V1 went ballistic. I instantly shut it down, gently tapped the brakes and then watched the mirrors. I guess he didn't get a good reading or I wasn't worth the trouble. In a few more seconds it would have been real trouble at 75+. As someone who hasn't received a speeding ticket in over 30 years and routinely drove the M3 (white) like a bat-out-of-hell (road conditions permitting, of course) its first few years, I agree that the SY and aerokit combo will have trouble flying under the radar!
My Boxster was a limited edition RS 60 Spyder, not the lightweight model now being sold. It definitely felt more nimble than the GTS, had more than adequate power, same fantastic brakes. The Carrera Red interior was great for a sports car and a deciding factor in my purchase. But after three years I was ready to forego the soft top for another coupe and more power.
So I am now racking up the first 2000 miles to escape the break-in period rev limit and hear her sing.....
