It's not even warmed up until you hit 200. On a spirited drive or serious traffic I'll get up to 225.

As Hella-Buggin' says. If your trips see lower temps that indicates very poor engine temp cycling. An engine, especially a flat one should experience a long temp cycle - meaning that the engine should spend more time fully warmed than time spent warming up.

You want to oil to get up to 200-225 on these cars...they are designed to run this way and it burns off any mositure in the oil. 200-225ish is nothing or this oil. I track my car and see 275 all day long.

Mike, seeing 275F oil temps what do you use for oil change intervals?
Thanks

Keep in mind that the coolant temperature gauge is not ever correct. It's designed to sit at about 180ºF all the time, unless it gets really hot--and then it will jump way up. Thus, it's not a good method to judge the accuracy of your engine oil temperature gauge. The oil gauge is much more precise and reports actual temperatures. After much driving in hotter ambient temperatures you should easily see 225-245ºF. Perhaps you simply weren't driving the car long enough in hot temps to catch your eye in the past.

This temperature is normal, however, check your coolant level to ensure all is well...

For the first 60 K miles the temp would rarely go above 200 even with spirited driving. Now as the engine has aged and (I assume) suffered increased internal wear I'm routinely seeing temps of 210 - 215 and increased oil consumption which previously was virtually non-existent.

If I were you I would have that engine thoroughly checked. Those variations (and their direction) do not make sense, unless you have 150k miles on the odo.

I doubt it. Car runs better than ever. If it didn't I would just trade it in for another although I would like to wait for the 991 to come out. It's known that there's a point where maximum engine output occurs. It's not at the beggining nor at the end of the engine's life span but somewhere in the middle.

Since my last oil change (11/10) at 60 K miles I have added 1 quart of oil. That is less than than the average that people report here at any mileage. However that compares to using 1/2 quart over the first 60 K miles which is way below average.

I'm due for an oil change in Nov and will have it checked out at that time but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Every 2-3 DE's oil is changed.

The only other thing to consider is to make sure your front air intakes are clean. Blow out with your leaf blower. May need to do the DIY bumper removal if really-really dirty.

275 is a bit too high. 250 is fine. last DE it was 105F, track temperature was 137F so car was heating up pretty bad, oil went to 275-280 and water went wel above 175 where it usualyl sits, close to 200 i think, so i had to give up speed and go one gear higher then usual everywhere to let car cool down.

i need to put 3rd radiator on.
