WOW, I am really impressed!!!! I just registered my 84' Targa today and can't say enought about it and Porsche. I averaged 90 - 110+ on the freeway and it was begging for more. Must have logged over 200 miles today, under extreme 90+ humid conditions and roads. Tight as a drum and always willing to pull! Car is 27 yrs old and I obviously have a new S, yet still I am so impressed!
Bravo Porsche!!!

The 1984 was a nice car. Always thought that the 915 tranny was first rate. The things were well built, albeit at a high cost to Porsche. I had taken mine apart many times and found you could do most of that with simple tools, like the 10, 11, 13, 15, 19mm wrenches, and some allen wrenches! (With a modest turbocharger, my 3.0 '81 would go 172 (rpm redline) mph and remained very stable at speed!)

Thanks for sharing, Mike. That was a blast down memory lane. Forgot what a pig that 308 could be, but damn it looked good doing it.
$1600 extra for those outrageous 16" wheels? My how times have changed.

0-60 in 5.3 for an '84. Wow, that would take some serious flogging.
I seriously doubt that my '87 with the G50, more horses/torque and mods would have laid down numbers like that.
The top speed is very credible, however.

For sure. When R&T tested the Carrera they got a 0-60 time of 6.2 (their test car had only 400 miles on it) and Motor Trend did 5.9 with a Turbo-look version with the wider body work and a bit more weight. C&D was known in the day for flogging their test cars mercilessly, but returning some eye popping times.
