you made the right choice to buy a late model 997, the car is more mature, even though the direct injection engine is relatively new.
Everybody might be better off waiting for the second generation 991 anyways, until the bugs are out of the system.
I see today that a 991 test mule is going in flames ... not a good sign.

My discount at Ray Catenna's was a little more aggressive. My list on GTS was $127,000.00. My purchase price was $114,000.00.
Guess it depends on the dealer.
I think that 997 values will hold fairly well. The new 991 is more of a GT car now, bigger, longer, wider, plusher interior. The 997 is remains closer to it's roots as a true performance sports car.
If I wanted a GT car that ran fast I'd look at an Aston Martin or Bently GT. I wanted a true sports car. Went with the Carrera.

beautiful car; one quick question:
Hi Everyone, just traded in my 2009 Cayman for a 2011 911 with PDK and Sport Chrono. Will miss Cayman for sure. Had a chance to race the Cayman R and a variety of 911s at the Porsche World Tour in NY and was completely floored by the 911. I was sold instantly! Here is the option list and pics:
Exterior: Arctic Silver Metallic
Interior: Black Standard Leather
Transmission: 7-speed PDK
Heated Seats
Seat Ventilation
Power Comfort Seats with Driver Memory
Sport Chrono Package Plus
Navigation Module for PCM
BOSE High End Sound Package
XM Radio
7-speed PDK
Self Dimming Mirrors
19" Sport Design Wheel
Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
Heated Steering Wheel

Hi, I agree that the Cayman is an awesome sports car. No questions asked but I actually felt more at ease on the track with a 911. Maybe its the DFI, more horsepower and torque, wider stance etc....but it was a lot more fun to drive and I felt more confident at higher speeds. Besides performance, I like the 911's exterior as well as interior better - which most do not agree with me (including my wife). Also, keep in mind that I am over 6 feet tall so the 911 is a better fit for me, litterally. The list goes on and on!

I don't think any apologies are needed for loving a 911/997 Carrera over a Cayman or visa versa. To each their own.
Both are great Porsches. 911/997 is classic Porsche. Cayman has its roots as far as I can tell in classic Porsche lore back to the 550 Spyder.

Great looking car! Especially like the Sport Design wheels. Had 'em on my '07 C2 Cab and miss them.
I'll look for you on the roads of Central NJ - don't forget the wave!

Noticed that your steering wheel has buttons, not paddles for the pdk. I thought they switched to paddles in 2010.
FWIW, I had the buttons in my '09 C2S and hated them, shifted when I didn't intend to. Ordered and installed the paddle shifter wheel and love it!
Did you have a choice of buttons or paddles?
