Excellence Bruce Anderson doesnt mention IMS failures?
IMS failures are not mentioned in this months buyers guide for 996's and 997's in Excellence Magazine by Bruce Anderson.
Things to watch out for mention oil leaks and RMS problems, but not IMS failures - nothing. I know its a small risk and might freak people out due to the repair cost and lack of easy way to detect it - but to not even mention it?

Makes one wonder who pays the bills at Excellence ? IMS issue is too significant to be left off a list of things to look out for when buying a used 996 or 997. Problem comes when you try to look for it.

I've been told and have read such conflicting information on IMS as it pertains to 997s. I have a 2007 and PCNA says it's nothing to worry about...

I've followed the IMS bearing issue very closely. Although the it's less likely as the years go on, it's not until 2009 models that it was eliminated. PCNA has never acknowledged any IMS bearing issue.

PCNA has never acknowledged that there is an IMS issue in any model year, including the 996 cars. It was only an issue if it happened to your car.

I understand this is a problem and that it's a major issue when it goes.

I don't take Excellence, so I haven't seen the actual article and hesitate to condemn them based on hearsay.
However, if they really didn't mention the IMS in a 996 buyer's guide, that is inexcusable.
Maybe someone will clarify.
