Comes off lease March 2012 but moving up to a new model in the next two months. The residual is pretty low and I'd rather, if anyone is interested, forgo any possible buyback from PFS and give someone looking for a used, pretty basic C2S a shot at it for its face value rather than paying dealer mark -up. I'm not looking for, nor do I need, a dime of personal profit. (I have no idea, if for such a basic model, 45K to 50K is reasonable - if it is, just want to pass on the fun that this car has been.)
2008 Speed Yellow C2S (you either love it or hate it)
18,400 miles
Black interior
Heated Sport Seats (not adaptive)
Carrera Classic Rims
Clear bra
Passenger seat manual airbag disable
No mods, no dings and a few, barely noticeable rock chips
1. If you qualify, transfer lease. Someone could buy it out at the end if they liked it (sort of a 5 mo. free trial).
2. If you qualify, transfer lease. You don't have to wait until the end of the lease to buy it out. The lease is $1,276/mo. but if you buy out early you only pay the depreciation and not the use tax or rent fee. I think it is something like $733/mo. on remaining months (in CA) plus residual (=$45,100 x (733/mo. x 5 mo.) (and whatever sales tax)
3. I don't know if PFS allows a third party to buy out the car directly. IIRC BMW allowed for that but I'd have to call PFS (or read, the fine, fine print on the contract) to find out.
4. If I had to buy it from PFS and sell it the price would be $53,001 (probably still pretty reasonable).
If there's any interest I'll post pictures, otherwise, it is the car in my Avatar.
I would be actually interested in buying the car from a fellow rennlister if they plan on returning it back to PCNA. I would be able to buy it for the residual plus would be wiling to pay a nominal fee for the members generosity. I would be looking for a C2S preferably in the blue/black color with decent options. When are the 2009 starting to come of the lease? Let me know if anyone is interested. It is in-fact a great way to trade cars rather than benefit the dealers. Let me know if anyone is interested?
I would recommend we start a thread exclusively on trading cars coming of a lease.
Only the original leasee can purchase the lease for the buy out at termination. A third party, including the dealer, cannot. The only way to purchase the car still under a lease is to pay off the balance and pay applicable sales tax. Only after this is done can the original leased sell the car.
At lease termination, the original leased can purchase the vehicle for the lease buy-out plus applicable sales tax and then may sell the vehicle to someone else.
I guess this would work as well. I can buy the car from the original lessee after he has bought the car from PCNA. Any folks on this board in that situation and planning on returning the car to PCNA?

+1. This is the reason I started to look at taking over a lease as well.
Btw, If this was a 2009, I would be all over this.
