With proper covering on the seats to protect against scratches, I wouldn't hesitate. Hell, my two kids are probably messier than the dogs and I take them everywhere in my car. This weekend I am doing my occasional routine of fishing all their toys and crap out of the car (under seats, door pockets, etc.), so I can start a new cycle. Having said that, generally I don't want to take our two little bitches along.

My German shorthaired pointer loves to ride in the porsches, and I like to have him. Nothing a towel over the seats and a few minutes with a vacuum cant fix.

I think it's easier with smaller dogs than larger ones and temperment has a lot to do with it. My lab is, shall we say, active and she would be a very unhappy camper being confined in the passenger seat or rear of a 911, especially at the beginning of a trip. Her energy level, the full leather interior of my Carrera, and the CF on my sport buckets would be a very poor mix. The cargo area of the Cayenne OTOH, with her big pillow and a few selected stuffed toys, suits her just fine.

Dillon Dawg rides ALL the time. He's a 130lb Pyreneese. To get rid of the hump in in the back seats. I bought a couple of black bath mats (one for the passenger seat) I went to the Depot and bought 2 inch styrofoam. I then took out the back seat pads (velcro) for a pattern and cut two styrofoam "boosters" for each well in back. I covered those with the second bathmat. It is just the right height so he can watch through the windsheild while laying his head on the conslole A little wear and tear on the console and hair flies in the car, but what the heck, huh?

Jock is in there 6-7 times a week and no one gets near it when he is.

I have a very old German Shepherd. She loves cars generally but doesn't like sports cars at all. I used to take her in my Audi S4. She was fine until I downshifted. As soon as I downshifted she would start to fuss because she knew what was about to happen--namely, her getting a bit tossed around as I pass a car. After a few such "scoldings" i found myself not downshifting and driving more gently for her.
She is too old for the 911 and way too hairy.
