Being in KA, I checked this out. The sales tax was upped temporarily a couple years ago and that law expires, so the law as it is drops the state sales tax by 1%. It takes a 2/3 vote to "raise" taxes, and the Repubs wouldn't vote for that, so no 2/3 majority. Same with the DMV tax (which is supposed to be sort of an annual property tax on the car's value). Of course Moonbeam tried to avoid the tax "decrease" but he was blocked. And of course its not a "decrease", it just a reversion to the already high taxes we had a few years ago. But Moonbeam did get a $12 per car in the registration "fee".
